LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The past controversial remarks made by Matty Healy on a podcast earlier this year have resurfaced, gaining attention once again due to his widely publicized relationship with Taylor Swift. During his appearance on 'The Adam Friedland Show' podcast in February, the lead singer of 'The 1975' discussed an incident where he admitted to masturbating to porn showing "brutalized" women.
Friedland and his co-host, Nick Mullen, brought up an incident where Friedland and a woman allegedly walked in on Healy masturbating to explicit content shortly after leaving a party at his house, referring to it as "hardcore pornography." They discovered that Healy, 34, was watching content from Ghetto Gaggers, a pornographic website known for featuring videos depicting the humiliation and brutalization of predominantly Black women. The incident occurred when Friedland and his friend went back to Healy's house just 30 seconds after leaving as she realized she had left a water bottle behind at his house.

"She went back in and Matty, like, on his phone and then on his 77-inch OLEDs just got Ghetto Gaggers blaring," Friedland said. "Thirty seconds after the hang, just hardcore pornography." Healy laughed as he said, "It wasn't just the... it was the combination of the fact that it was, you're not exaggerating, it was 30 seconds. Like, you guys were still waiting outside, she came back in, I was already flustered. I was, like, dressed as 'guy who is jacking off,' so I had, like, an untucked shirt. Like you said, I think it literally was, like, Ghetto Gaggers was on the TV. It's just somebody just getting, like, brutalized," Healy said.
He later added of the female friend who walked in on him, "It wasn't some cool-scene New York art girl. It was little Olive, who came in like, 'I'm so sorry, I'm just getting my water!'" "Ten minutes would have been fine," he said in reference to how long it had been since his guests left. "But 30 seconds was kind of almost…I was worried that was offensive."
'Making me lose respect for Taylor'
Many fans of Taylor Swift have expressed their disapproval and have called for her to end her relationship with Healy. "This whole thing is making me lose respect for Taylor," one Redditor wrote on the original thread of the resurfaced video. "Seriously, it feels like she's TRYING to get canceled again," another wrote. "How is she okay with this?" a third fan asked, adding that Healy is "as problematic as Kanye West only he's white and British." One more posted, "If a bunch of strangers on the internet know about Matty Healy watching racist torture porn then just HOW would Taylor not know? Matty Healy was racist towards Ice Spice
During the same podcast episode, Healy faced accusations of racism for his comments about the rapper Ice Spice, as previously reported by MEAWW. He, along with Friedland and Mullen, appeared to incorrectly identify her heritage by referring to her as Inuit and Chinese. They proceeded to imitate and mock the accents associated with each heritage. Due to the offensive content, the podcast episode was eventually removed from Spotify and Apple Music. Healy later apologized for his comments about Ice Spice during a concert in New Zealand.
