Arsenal's Premier League clash with Manchester City seemed to be trudging towards a limp finish, having rightly been billed as a game with huge implications on the title race.

Mikel Arteta and Pep Guardiola had engineered solid but creatively limited performances from their respective sides until a late winner from Gabriel Martinelli - aided by a deflection off Nathan Ake's face - eventually separated the sides in a 1-0 home win.

Arteta's side remain one of two unbeaten teams in England's top flight alongside north London rivals Tottenham, who sit at the top of both the Premier League and the form table over the last six games.

But how did Arsenal's victory affect those form standings?

Tottenham have taken the most points from their last six games thanks to five wins and a draw, scoring 14 goals goals in the process. Arsenal are two points behind, having drawn an additional game on top of the 2-2 tie at the Emirates in the north London derby.

The Gunners were held at home by Fulham but still hold a point over third-place Aston Villa, who have scooped wins over Burnley, Crystal Palace, Chelsea and Brighton before being held by Wolves in the West Midlands derby.

Liverpool are still feeling the effects of their controversial defeat at Spurs but have taken a point more than Manchester City, whose defeat at Arsenal was their second on the trot in the Premier League.

Chelsea are yet to break into the top ten in the Premier League standings, having won just one of their first six games in 2023/24, but back-to-back successes against Fulham and Burnley have alleviated the pressure on Mauricio Pochettino.

Brighton's fast start to the campaign has been undoubtedly been affected by their presence in the Europa League. Roberto De Zerbi's side have conceded 14 goals in their last six games - including six in the thrashing at Aston Villa - though they did stop a rot setting in with a 2-2 draw with Liverpool before the international break.

Things would have got even worse at Manchester United had Scott McTominay not bailed them out against Brentford with a dramatic double at the death. Having stared down the barrel of a fourth league defeat in their last six matches, the Red Devils instead snatched their third win of that sequence.

At the bottom, things are looking incredibly ominous for Sheffield United, who sit 20th in both the form and real life Premier League standings. The Blades did manage a draw with Everton, but other clashes with Man City, Tottenham, Newcastle, West Ham and Fulham have returned no points.

Andoni Iraola is still looking for his first win as Bournemouth manager and has most recently lost three games in a row, while Brentford's lack of efficiency in the final third in the absence of Ivan Toney has pushed them into a relegation spot in the form standings.
