Gholdengo, the 1,000th Pokémon in the National Pokédex, and its pre-evolution, Gimmighoul, are dual steel and ghost-type Pokémon introduced as a part of the most recent installments in the Pokémon series, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

Gimmighoul debuted in one of many trailers uploaded before the games were released, where it was shown off in both gameplay of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and Pokémon GO. In these trailers, the evolution method was alluded to, but not explicitly stated.

Gimmighoul will evolve into a Gholdengo when the player gives it 999 Gimmighoul Coins, so getting a Gholdengo will take some time for anyone seeking it. Luckily, there are several primary methods by which one can go about getting the coins necessary for evolution.

Riding around the Paldea region in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, players might notice ruined towers sprawled across the landscape. Climbing these towers, players will find chests, that upon closer inspection, will attack the player, revealing themselves to be Gimmighoul. Catching or defeating these Gimmighoul will yield a Gimmighoul Coin count ranging from one to five.

There is a limit, however, to how many of these ruined towers players will be able to find. Fortunately, while searching for these towers, players may notice Roaming Form Gimmighoul hiding in plain sight around the various cities in Paldea, or on top of rocks and cliff peaks. They may be hiding in many places, so keep an eye out for them!

Once the player has found 999 Gimmighoul Coins, all they need to do is level up their Gimmighoul and it will evolve into a Gholdengo, and the coins will disappear.
