'I prefer the doing of it': Brian Cox admits he hasn't watched many 'Succession' episodes as he is 'bored'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Logan Roy is perhaps one of the greatest characters to grace our television screens. Played to near perfection by Brian Cox, the ultimate corporate patriarch was meant to instill fear and get the job done at all costs.

Cox is raking in all the praise after 'Succession' ended in May 2023. He has given many interviews and shared his thoughts on the series. In one of those candid conversations with actress Emily Blunt, Cox revealed a rather unpleasant truth that may surprise his loyal fans. The actor revealed that he has not seen many episodes of 'Succession.' This revelation was made in the Variety talk show 'Actors on Actors', where thespians sit opposite each other and talk openly about their work.

Brian Cox is ‘bored’ of 'Succession'

Emily Blunt is riding the wave of success of her Western revenge series 'The English,' while Cox has just finished the finale of 'Succession." The two actors made a perfect pair for a revealing conversation on Variety's talk show, where they discussed acting secrets, methods and even the fact that Cox never liked Meryl Streep. But the biggest revelation was when Blunt asked Cox, "Do you not like watching yourself because you're self-critical, or because you're just bored with watching it?" Cox didn't hesitate long and groaned a quick, "Bored. Bored."

Cox later expanded on his answer and stated, “I prefer the doing of it. Because once you’ve done it, it’s up to the audience to make their decision. And especially playing somebody like Logan - he’s so misunderstood. They just see this anger and rage.” Blunt later complimented Cox for portraying anger and rage in a way that is beyond anyone’s capabilities. Cox chuckled and said, “That’s because anger is always very close to me.” The two then went on to discuss and praise each other’s works with Cox admitting at the end that he had played the role of a lot of “not very pleasant people” in his life.

What are Brian Cox’s next projects?

Cox is set to star as a Marine veteran coping with PTSD in ‘Mending the Line.’ He will also be seen in Tom Kirby’s ‘The Glove,’ Matt Greene-Delanghe’s ‘Skelly', and Christian De Vita’s short film ‘Wittgenstein’s Poker.’ The actor is also set to star opposite Parker Posey and Lisa Kudrow in 'The Parenting' and will lend his voice to the period piece ‘Unsinkable’ and franchise installment ‘The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim.’

Cox is the busiest of all actors from ‘Succession.’ The 76-year-old will also feature in Joe and Anthony Russo’s ‘The Electric State,’ which boasts an ensemble cast of Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan, Millie Bobby Brown, Jenny Slate, Chris Pratt, Anthony Mackie, Stanley Tucci, Billy Bob Thornton, and Jason Alexander.
