LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jada Pinkett Smith left fans baffled on Monday, October 16, as she shared that Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the 2022 Academy Awards helped reaffirm her commitment to him.

Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith's Oscars moment reignites commitment

"When I was sitting at the Oscars, it clicked in. As soon as I was like, 'Oh snap, you hit Chris?'" Jada stated. "'I was like, I'm riding with you. I didn't come into this place as your wife, but I'm leaving here as your wife because we got a storm we're going to have to deal with together. I am not gonna leave your side.'"

The revelation comes after Jada disclosed that she and Will secretly separated seven years ago but are now working on their marriage. During the 94th Academy Awards, Will's explosive outburst made headlines when he slapped Rock over a joke about Jada's hair.

The incident led Jada to question her role in their relationship, given their separation.

In another candid conversation Jada shared that she and Will have been doing "really deep work" together following the infamous slap. She also discussed the challenges they faced during their seven-year separation and how she had to "learn how to love myself" before she could "identify what love looked like coming from somebody else."

Jada further revealed that she received the full support of Will and their children, Jaden Smith, Willow Smith, and Trey Smith, to share their personal stories in her upcoming memoir, 'Worthy,' set to be released soon. Will even read the book and didn't request any changes.
