Is Ronda Rousey retiring? Former UFC and WWE Champion drops a possible hint on retirement in cryptic social media post

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Ronda Rousey may bid adieu to her illustrious combat sports career.

The 36-year-old former UFC and WWE Champion shared an Instagram post on Wednesday, October 11, with some intimate snapshots of hanging out with her husband, daughter and friends and hinted that retiring might be in the near future for her, reports People.

In the post, she can be seen carrying her daughter La'akea Makalapuaokalanipō Browne, two, in her arms as they walked through farmland with horses in the background.

The Olympic medalist appeared to be having fun in the pool while holding up a can in a second shot.

The third and final shot showed her posing with her husband Travis Browne outside their home.

All the photos were black and white, similar to another post earlier this month where she showed off her daughter posing just like her.

“‘Sorry, I couldn’t hear you through my retirement.’ Bernie Lumen ❤️?,” she captioned the photos.

Ronda Rousey has been performing mother duty for the last two months

Rousey, who married Browne at his home state of Hawaii in August 2017 and welcomed her daughter four years later in 2021, has been spending the last couple of months on mother duty.

She has shared several pictures with her daughter on Instagram and even gushed about her to the outlet for her Stars on Mars preview event, saying that La'akea was going to be one “tough” child.

"Oh, she's definitely going to be tough. She doesn't respond to pain so much," Rousey said.

"She just fell and scraped her knee today and she was just like... she didn't even cry. She just kind of grunts it out!," she said, adding jokingly, "The world isn't ready for this little girl.”

Ronda Rousey admitted that motherhood has shifted her priorities

Rousey, who built a career in the UFC and made her WWE debut a few years ago, also confessed that motherhood has shifted her priorities and opened up about how it has changed her over the years.

"I'm just so much happier that I'm no longer ruminating over myself all day," Rousey shared with the outlet at another event, adding "I'm always thinking about her and focused on her and... I don't know. Am I more considerate?”

"I think the best part about it is that it's mentally made me more healthy and made me stop beating myself up so much because I'm so concerned with taking care of her," she continued.

Rousey has also previously hinted at leaving WWE. In 2019, she said that she wasn’t sure what her life would be like after welcoming a child.

“I don’t know what it’s like to have a baby," she said, adding "I could look down at this beautiful child and be like ‘f**k everything, I don’t care about anything else other than this baby.’ And you’ll never see me again. Or, I could be like my mom [AnnMaria De Mars], who trained while she was eight months pregnant and then won the US Open six weeks after giving birth. Which was unbelievable.”

She continued, “I don’t think I’m going to try and aspire to her level. But I’m just saying, you never know. I don’t want to make any promises about the future when I don’t know how I’m gonna feel in the future.”
