As one of the most beloved Simpsons games of all-time, fans have been hoping for a remake of The Simpsons: Hit & Run for years. But is the wait almost over?

The Simpsons: Hit & Run, a 2003 GTA-clone themed around the iconic cartoon family, back a staple in any home that owned a PlayStation 2, Xbox or GameCube. A satirical take on the GTA franchise, The Simpsons: Hit & Run went beyond simple parody and instead offered young players fun and engaging gameplay.

Even with bugs, glitches and exploits aplenty, the game holds a special place in the hearts of gamers. So much so that fans have been hoping and praying for a remaster, or even a remake, for years. While it's always seemed unlikely (developer Radical Entertainment was acquired by Activision and faced significant layoffs in 2010 and 2012), something has emerged that's spurred on rumors of the game's revival.

As spotted by GameSpot, the entire soundtrack for The Simpsons: Hit & Run appeared on both Spotify and Apple Music over the weekend. Of course, this doesn't mean a remake or remaster is on the way, but it is surprising to see the soundtrack appear so suddenly.

The soundtrack was uploaded to the official Simpsons accounts on both platforms.

In an interview with IGN, The Simpsons writer Matt Selman expressed his support for the return of The Simpsons: Hit & Run but stressed "It's a complicated corporate octopus to try to make that happen.”
