Jen Shah completes mandatory anger management classes in prison, says she could've used it on 'RHOSLC'

BRYAN, TEXAS: Jen Shah is putting her time in prison to good use by attending anger management lessons and transforming herself into #ZenJen. 'The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City' star, who is serving time in Texas prison for her role in a telemarketing fraud, opened up about her anger management program in a statement to Us Weekly.

Jen's sentence was reduced by a year in March, and she is scheduled to be released on August 30, 2028, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons. In March 2021, she and her aide Stuart Smith were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to conduct wire fraud and money laundering. She apologized for her deceptions, which "hurt innocent people," after her sentence this January. Despite the fact that she is no longer on Bravo, Jen has made do by composing a 'Real Housewives of Bryan' play with her convicts, whose personalities have been "cranked up to an 11."

'I can control how I choose to respond and react'

Jen is working on herself while incarcerated. Jen, 49, revealed the things she's learned in anger management classes since beginning her six-plus-year jail sentence for telemarketing fraud. Jen told People, via her rep, Chris Giovanni, that the knowledge she gained while completing a necessary anger management class would have been useful during her time on the Bravo series.

"In reflection, I could have used this on RHOSLC," claimed Jen, who was shown in a vulgar outburst with family members in her hometown of Salt Lake City last fall. Jen stated that as a result of her education, while incarcerated, she now has a greater grasp of "what anger is, where it comes from, and healthy ways to respond and react that are safe and beneficial." "Through journaling, homework, audio lessons, and the two-hour weekly group sessions/class," she said, "I learned more about what anger is, where it comes from, and healthy ways to respond and react that are safe and beneficial."

Jen used the Rational Self-Analysis approach to explain how she "learned you can have the same activating event but get a different outcome using the tools we learned and implemented each week." Jen stated that she acquired strategies to confront "unhelpful beliefs" in the required training, and plans to apply what she learned in her day-to-day interactions while in jail. "Even though class has ended, I will be carrying around my RSA worksheet in case I run into conflict while here," she explained. "Ultimately, I can't control what others will do, but I can control how I choose to respond and react with the tools I learned in class. #ZenJen"

Some of the subjects Jen and other participants discussed in their program were “women and anger,” “anger responses,” “bottling it up,” and “anger and other people.”

Jen Shah keeps an online journal

Jen took to Instagram in March with a diary post on how much she missed her family, which included her husband Sharrieff Sr and kids Sharrieff Jr and Omar. Jen admitted that she "cried silently" in her bunk while "pretending to fall asleep reading a book" during the painful moment. "In actuality, my chest was hurting as if my heart had broken in a million pieces," Jen explained. "I laid in the dark alone with my thoughts of having to say goodbye to my family—to my sweet husband and boys," she added.

Jen added, "Sharrieff's face was seared in my thoughts, remembering Omar's tears as I hugged him tight, Sharrieff Jr's face on FT as I said goodbye to him from the SUV before we arrived at Bryan FPC."
