NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Jenna Bush Hager, the daughter of former president George W Bush, revealed that she received a bizarre gift when she was pregnant. She was residing in New York City at the time.

Hager, who is proud of her southern roots, was baffled by the present she received from her home state of Texas, Us Weekly reports.

What was the bizarre gift Jenna Bush Hager received when she was pregnant?

The 41-year-old 'Today' co-host told her colleague Hoda Kotb on the Friday, September 15, episode of the NBC morning show that someone sent her mother, Laura Bush, some Texas dirt.

It was supposed to be placed under her bed when she delivered her children in New York City.

“You know that somebody sent my mom Texas dirt to be put under the bed when I delivered my children so that they could be born on Texas soil in New York City?” Bush Hager said with a surprised expression.

The TV personality, who shares daughters Mila, 10, Poppy, eight, and son Hal, four, with husband Henry Hager, admitted that the gift was not on her baby registry.

Where was Jenna Bush Hager born?

Jenna Bush Hager was born in Dallas and grew up in Austin before moving to Washington, DC, at the age of 19 when her father became the president.

She now lives in the northeast, but she makes sure her children get a taste of her home state by sending them to Texas for summer camp.

She also joked that her children have picked up some Southern accents from her, especially when she drinks margaritas and listens to Willie Nelson.

Jenna joked saying, “They do have southern accents because once I start to have a margarita and put on some Willie Nelson, I’m a whole new person.”

She added, “I’m just gonna put a little recording in their ears when they sleep — not in their ears because I’d hate to damage them — [that says] ‘y’all, y’all, y’all,’” she said.

Bush Hager missed her daughter Mila terribly when she was away at a summer camp. She said she was overjoyed to see her again after three weeks.

“It’s worth sending your kid to camp just so you can get them back,” she said.

She also laughed over getting a hard time from her children, especially when Mila confronted her for throwing away some of her artwork.

“She said, ‘I heard you threw away my art,’” Bush Hager recalled.
