CULVER CITY, CALIFORNIA: The 'Jeopardy!' Second Chance tournament moved into a very exciting Episode 2 on September 12 with a new set of contestants on Season 37.

The second place for this week's finals was filled in by David Maybury, who won after a ruthless game of trivia with fellow contestants Susan Schulman and Cody Lawrence.

He will next compete against Jill Tucker and another finalist on Day 1 of the two-day finale starting Thursday, September 14. Here's all you need to know about the 'Jeopardy!' contestant.

Who is David Maybury?

According to his 'Jeopardy!' profile, Maybury is from Richmond, Virginia where he works as a magnetics engineer.

'Jeopardy!' is not the only game show he has appeared on. Earlier in 2023, he also participated in 'Master Minds' and was able to bag $11,000.

Maybury's LinkedIn pagez revealed that he was currently employed at Mp Materials as the Director of the Manufacturing Programs.

Maybury runs a blog called 'An Immigrant in Trebekistan' where he regularly writes about his life as a game show fan and his experiences of being a participant in two of those.

Maybury's blog also revealed that he was a reputed engineer whose magnets had been used in "Formula 1 cars, artificial hearts, oil drilling tooling, most commercial airplanes, quite a few road cars, and a few stupidly expensive watches."

The finalist also shared that he had spent more than eight years working in Switzerland before returning to the US.

How did David Maybury win 'Jeopardy!'?

Luck was on Maybury's side as in the first round of 'Jeopardy!', he remained third in line towards a leading score.

He was able to snag the first spot by catching up in the Double Jeopardy round, reaching a whopping score of $24,800.

The unexpected happened when Maybury came out the winner because of his correct Final Jeopardy answer and a big wager against his competitors.

The clue for the final round was from the category 'Mythological Places'. It said, "'Paradise Lost' says it's "abhorred" and 'The Flood of Deadly Hate' & in Dante's 'Inferno', it's fed by a "gloomy brook."

The correct answer was the River Styx which was landed by all three contestants. Maintaining his lead, Maybury made a big wager, bringing his final score to $37,463.
