CULVER CITY, CALIFORNIA: 'Jeopardy!' host Ken Jennings is back on the game show as a full-time host and he is making sure that all the viewers know it. He is having the time of his life engaging in playful banter with his contestants.
In an episode from July 11, Jennings was once again right on cue to call out one of the contestants for their answer. The contestant only used the first name of a major historical figure in their answer which provoked the show host to tease them to no end.
Ken Jennings calls contestant out
While doing the second round of clues for the latest episode, the contestants landed on the category “A Century Ago: 2023". One of the contestants, Justin White, chose the prize amount of $1200 which had the question's clue: "Peering back millennia, this archaeologist opens King Tut's burial chamber in the Valley of the Kings.”
White's response was "Who is Howard?" which he answered with hesitance. Jennings ruled it to be incorrect while the other two contestants, James Tyler and Erin Sheedy, did not buzz in with an answer. Turns out, White was close in his answer as Jennings revealed the answer to be Howard Carter.
"Howard's his first name," Jennings emphasized, "Justin, you must have known him well.” The contestant could not hold back his laughter as did the audience as they joined in on the fun.
Jennings takes on Trebek show
Jennings is probably the name that comes up right after the previous legendary host Alex Trebek in association with the game show 'Jeopardy!'. He has not only spent an iconic time on the show as a contestant but has also been praised for his performance as a host.
He was previously joined by Mayim Bialik on the Trebek stage but she has temporarily stepped down in order to support the writers who are currently on strike in Hollywood. Jennings will be hosting until the end of this season, which will be towards the end of July, and most probably join back again for the upcoming season of 'Jeopardy!'
