Joe Rogan believes Sean Strickland vs Israel Adesanya rematch is on the cards: 'He just took his world title'

AUSTIN, TEXAS: According to UFC commentator Joe Rogan, a rematch between Sean Strickland and Israel Adesanya is highly likely. In their recent bout, Strickland convincingly outperformed Israel Adesanya, ultimately securing a unanimous decision victory.

During a 'Fight Companion' episode of 'The Joe Rogan Experience,' comedian Sam Tripoli, actor Bryan Callen, and former UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub were featured as special guests.

Sean Strickland vs Israel Adesanya rematch

During the podcast, Rogan said, “The rematch is 100% the big money, and would be smart to do. Wow, Izzy doesn't wanna hug him. He likes him less now, he just took his world title!”

While many anticipated an easy victory for Adesanya to retain the 185-pound title, Strickland's performance proved otherwise. He showcased a masterful display, applying relentless pressure that disrupted Adesanya's game plan.

Strickland exhibited flawless defensive skills, making it difficult for Adesanya to land any significant strikes.

Adesanya, for the first time in his career, was knocked down by Strickland's precise straight punch, which he expertly used to counter Adesanya's looping hook, marking the conclusion of the first round.

As the bout progressed, Strickland continued to evolve both defensively and offensively. This impressive performance earned him a unanimous victory, with all three judges scoring the fight 49-46 in his favor, thereby crowning him the new middleweight champion.

Joe Rogan praised Sean Strickland

Apart from his commentary during the broadcast, Joe Rogan also extended his congratulations to Sean Strickland on Instagram. He posted a picture of himself alongside his friends to celebrate the victory.

"Fight Companion was a blast! Always good to get to hang out with my brothers @brendanschaub@samtripoli @bryancallen and the producer GOAT @jamievernon! Congrats to @strickland_mma_ for one of the greatest upsets ever and a spectacular performance!" the caption read.

Fight Companions are typically limited in availability, especially for major cards, due to Joe Rogan's usual commitment to providing commentary for pay-per-view events taking place in the United States.
