Joe Rogan lashes out at his heart rate monitor app for asking personal data: 'No thanks'

AUSTIN, TEXAS: Joe Rogan, who never fails to comment on relevant topics, recently brought up the issue of privacy leak worries in the current digitized world. The podcaster shared his qualms about approving a heart rate monitoring app to utilize his personal information.

He took to Instagram to post on the subject, welcoming suggestions from his followers about a new heart rate monitor that doesn't invade his privacy as 'The Joe Rogan Experience' host seems to vehemently oppose the idea of sharing private information.

'No thanks'

Rogan posted on Instagram about his struggles with using his heart rate monitor as it seems to have an updated privacy policy that requires more private data. He attached two pictures to his post, with the first showing an updated privacy policy notice from Polar, a brand known for making fitness products like heart monitoring systems and sports bands. Moreover, the initial image had a warning message saying that Rogan was temporarily locked because he hadn't consented to share his data.

The second image displayed the data that is being asked by the company, which seems to be the main point of concern for the UFC commentator. He pointed out how the policy states, "I agree that my personal data may be transferred and processed outside my country of origin as described in the Polar Privacy Notice. I can change my settings about this consent at any time," but a user might not be able to use the monitor because they denied permitting to divulge their data. Rogan wrote, "Thing is if I change my consent or don’t agree to consent I can’t use my heart rate monitor anymore. No thanks," before asking for suggestions regarding less intrusive heart rate monitors.

Joe Rogan's views on electronic fitness products

Back in 2019, Rogan had discussed the Whoop Starp, letting his Instagram followers know how impressed he was with the gadget. He disclosed that the machine tracked his sleep and heart rate variability as well as included comprehensive advice on staying healthy and recuperating from exercises. Rogan said that the strap had made him realize how little sleep he had been getting. Notably, the fitness band has been praised by athletes like Michael Phelps. Even though the UFC commentator was once genuinely smitten with the fitness monitor, it seems like he is not eager to share too much of his personal information with such products, even if it is a heart rate monitor that he has been using for quite some time, as seen with his recent struggle with Polar's item.
