CANNES, FRANCE: Johnny Depp's "comeback" in Hollywood has garnered international attention, especially after he won the highly-publicized defamation trial against his ex-wife, Amber Heard. His remarks regarding his "boycott" have generated a lot of buzz in the media. The actor reportedly said at a Cannes press conference, "Of course, when you’re asked to resign from a film you’re doing because of something that is merely a bunch of vowels and consonants floating in the air, you feel a bit boycotted."

After the courtroom drama, Depp is starring in French director Maiwenn's 'Jeanne du Barry', in which he portrays King Louis XV. The 'Fantastic Beasts' actor was the subject of countless headlines about his personal life, including his "rotting teeth." In a recent video, Depp discussed his life before he hit the red carpet for the premiere of the historical drama at the Cannes Film Festival on May 16.

'Initially you feel f*****g exposed'

Photographer Greg Williams posted a video of Depp getting dressed for Cannes on his Instagram account on Wednesday, June 14. Speaking about returning to Cannes, Depp said, "Walking up the steps at the thing, I've done it a few times with different films over many years. It’s always kind of – it’s quite beautiful, when you’re at the receiving end, you just feel like, initially you feel f***ing exposed."

Williams asked Depp about how he felt to be back at the festival promoting a movie. Depp said that a friend had texted him to say it was his "comeback film or something." "I mean, you call it whatever you want, you could make it whatever you want but comeback? I mean, you have to go away to come back," Depp stated while sitting in a car en route to his movie's premiere. "I didn’t go nowhere. Maybe I was not thought of or looked at or allowed to be looked at...," he stated.

'People can hit the bottom many times'

When asked whether he got any "satisfaction" from going back to Cannes, Depp replied with a smile, "This - you know, yes, there is... Because, you know, at the top of this horrible period, at the beginning of it it was… you know, again, it’s like kind of what I was saying before. People can hit the bottom many times," adding, "You can drop straight to the bottom a billion f***ing times, but if you’re lucky enough to find the basement, you’re alright, you know?"
