TROUTMAN, NORTH CAROLINA: Jon Gosselin recently spoke about his experiences attending his children's graduations, noting that he attended only one. Jon opened up about his present connection with his children and the alienation he has had with six of them while participating in 'Kickz for Kids', a philanthropic tour hosted by entrepreneur Patrick Carroll.
Reflecting on the graduation season, the former star of 'Jon & Kate Plus 8', now 46 years old, disclosed, "I had eight graduations this year. I only attended one. The only kids I see and talk to are Hannah and Collin," Gosselin said as per People.
'So I've been pretty much estranged from Mady and Cara for nine years'
"So I've been pretty much estranged from Mady and Cara for nine years," Gosselin shared with People. While his twin daughters, Mady and Cara, both 22, recently graduated from college, the other children, Jon and his ex-wife Kate Gosselin's sextuplets, graduated from high school. Aaden, Leah, Joel, and Alexis Gosselin, all 19 years old, are living with their mother, according to Jon, while he continues to play a significant role in the lives of Hannah and Collin.
'I can't put all my eggs in one basket like I used to'
While discussing his relationship with the children, Jon shared, "At first it was very difficult, but now it's, you know, you hope for the best, but you don't dwell on it, you know what I mean?" He expressed the possibility of developing a relationship with them in the future but acknowledged that he no longer puts all his expectations in one basket and then becomes upset about it. “Maybe we'll develop a relationship in the future, but yeah. I can't put all my eggs in one basket like I used to and then be upset about it," he further shared with the publication.
'I haven't talked to Kate in years'
Jon's personal life includes his DJ profession and one previous, public long-term romance. He dated Colleen Conrad for seven years until splitting up in 2021. Regarding his relationship with his ex-wife Kate, Jon revealed, "I haven't talked to Kate in years."
'We saw each other, but there was a whole football field between us'
The high school graduation for their children was something that both Jon and Kate attended, but they didn't speak to one another. As Jon recounted, "Hannah invited Kate and... we saw each other, but there was a whole football field between us." Prior to the graduation, Jon had conversations with Hannah and Collin to ensure a cordial atmosphere. Jon said. “I talked to Hannah and Collin before graduation to make sure that it was gonna be cordial."
Earlier as per a report, the former reality TV star stated that his 22-year-old twins were "ignoring" his texts after the nasty custody battle. "The last time I spoke to Mady and Cara was 2014," Gosselin told The Sun, before adding, "I periodically text Mady and Cara to see if I get a response and at this point, I’ve never heard from them." He said that he would not attend their college graduation since he was not invited. “Sadly I am not attending Mady and Cara's college graduations,” he continued.
Gosselin and Kate got married in 1999 and had twins Mady and Cara the following year. They later welcomed sextuplets. The couple appeared, in reality shows such as 'Jon & Kate Plus 8' and 'Discovery Health Specials'. However, their marriage ended in 2009 when Kate filed for divorce, citing Gosselin's alleged infidelity. Kate was granted full legal custody of the children, but in 2018, Hannah and Collin moved in with Gosselin.
