SEAGOVILLE, TEXAS: 'Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets' is set to unveil the untold truth on Amazon Prime on June 3. The Duggar family is led by Jim and Michelle and became popular for having 19 children and their strong family values. However, the family's carefully constructed image shattered when allegations emerged against their eldest son, Josh Duggar, and his subsequent arrest for possession of child pornography.
Josh's prison sentence, initially set at 151 months (approximately 12.5 years), has recently been extended by nearly two additional months, with a new release date of October 2, 2032. Despite his conviction, the 35-year-old's wife, Anna Duggar, 34, stands by his side, continuing to raise their seven children. Their most recent child was born shortly before Josh's May 2022 conviction. He is currently incarcerated at a federal corrections facility in Seagoville, Texas.
Josh Duggar's role in the rise and fall of the Duggar family
Josh's notoriety began in 2008 with the premiere of the TLC series documenting the lives of his independent Baptist family. Josh's allegedly molested five young girls, including four of his sisters and the family's babysitter, which led to the subsequent cancellation of the family's series.
TLC subsequently revived the series under the title 'Counting On,' focusing on the lives of the older Duggar sisters. However, the show's eventual cancellation in 2021 became inevitable following Josh's arrest for child pornography.
'Justice is being served!'
Despite the distressing legal saga, the Duggar family has publicly expressed their prayers and unwavering love for Josh. His parents, Jim Bob and Michelle, expressed their ongoing prayers and unwavering love for their son.
"As parents, we will never stop praying for Joshua, and loving him, as we do all of our children," reported E!. "In each of life's circumstances, we place our trust in God. He is our source of strength and refuge." Meanwhile, his sister Jinger Duggar Vuolo acknowledged the difficulty of discussing the trial but believes that "justice is being served." "I'm just grateful for the justice system," she said. "My heart just breaks for the victims and their families."
According to a fellow inmate's relative, Josh's wife, Anna, along with their seven young children, visit him often on numerous occasions. "We've seen Anna at visitation fairly regularly. I've spoken to Anna a couple of times. Normally the only thing I've seen is Anna and then their kids. I don't really know anybody else," the source claimed.
