AUSTIN, TEXAS: Kaitlin Armstrong, the accused in the killing of professional cyclist Anna Moriah "Mo" Wilson is facing trial in Austin, Texas.

On the first day of the trial, her defendant argued that authorities didn’t have any ‘hard evidence’ against their client. The attorney Geoffrey Puryear said Armstrong is "trapped in a nightmare of circumstantial evidence."

“You won’t hear – and you didn’t hear – about any camera footage showing Kaitlin Armstrong at the scene of this shooting, despite there being tons of cameras in the area,” Geoffrey Puryear told the jury. “Not one captures Kaitlin Armstrong at that scene.”

What did prosector say on Day 1 of Anna Moriah Wilson murder trial?

The prosecutors are portraying her as a jealous killer, who shot the athlete. Anna Moriah previously dated Armstrong’s on-and-off boyfriend.

Wilson was staying with her friend Caitlin Cash at the time she was shot multiple times.

The victim was on a bike ride on May 10, which was in the public domain since she posted on the fitness app Strava.

She later texted her ex-Colin Strickland her location where she’s staying, reports People.

Cash testified in the court on Wednesday, November 1, “She was covered in blood. She was lying on her back. I bent down and tried to wake her up. Pretty quickly I called 911.” The emergency call was also played in the court.

Cash also shared that Strickland and Wilson had been in a romantic relationship in October 2021, but not at the time of her murder.

Armstrong also reportedly fled to Costa Rica and was using her sister’s passport.

She allegedly got plastic surgery in Costa Rica before she was arrested by the local authority and extradited to the United States in July 2022 to face charges, Jones said.

“The last thing Mo did on this Earth was scream in terror,” prosecutor Rickey Jones told the jury.

“Those screams are followed by Pow! Pow! Two gunshots – one to the front of the head, one to the side of the head that hits the index finger as it passes. You won’t hear any more screams after that,” he said.

“The Austin Police Department told her she was free to go. She was free to go,” Puryear said. “That’s what you will hear. You will hear that (she) is passionate about traveling,” Jones added.
