LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Kelly Clarkson recently joined Jimmy Fallon for a candid chat, shedding light on how her personal life struggles prompted her to make alterations to the lyrics of her popular song, 'Piece by Piece'.
During the conversation, she also expressed her willingness to collaborate with Mariah Carey.
In their discussion, Mariah Carey's desire to write a song with Kelly came up. However, Kelly clarified that her songwriting is typically a solitary process.

She mentioned that whenever her name is associated with a song, she is the one who wrote it, often working alone.
Nevertheless, she expressed her admiration for Mariah Carey and her willingness to collaborate with the iconic singer. "-I would love to write. I love you, Mariah Carey, and I will... I will risk it for you."
The conversation then shifted to Kelly's decision to rewrite the lyrics of 'Piece by Piece'. She explained that she found it challenging to sing the song in its original form due to her "personal life circumstances."
The last two seasons of her talk show had been notably tough for her behind the scenes.
She admitted that she sometimes had to send a representative in her place because she couldn't show up herself, describing the need to go through the motions like a robot to avoid breaking down.

She told Fallon, "you know, now that I rewrote it literally an hour before I went on stage in Vegas to like, sing it because I was like, I can't sing these lyrics, but I know people want me to sing the song. And so I changed it, right before the show, and, you know, it kind of put [it in] perspective."
She added, "It's like... that was a lot of pressure to put on someone"
Despite the challenges and last-minute changes to the lyrics, her Las Vegas performance was a hit. The new version of 'Piece by Piece' emphasizes self-reliance and healing, and it received enthusiastic approval from the audience.
