Leicester and Leeds have been relegated from the Premier League as their finishes of 19th and 18th respectively were confirmed on the final day of the 2022/23 season.

It means Everton have survived, their fate sealed by a slender 1-0 victory over Bournemouth at Goodison Park.

The relegation scrap was the main talking point of the final day of the 2022/23 Premier League season and there was drama throughout the afternoon for Toffees, Foxes and United fans.

Everton held a two-point advantage in 17th heading into the last round of fixtures, with Leicester ahead of Leeds on goal difference with both sat on 31 points.

Leeds were quickly behind when Harry Kane struck in the second minute and they were never truly in the contest as Spurs eased to a 3-1 win.

Earlier in the day, Leicester had taken the lead against West Ham through Harvey Barnes to leap out of the relegation zone, but Abdoulaye Doucoure's strike put the Toffees 1-0 up against the Cherries to go back into 17th.

Leicester did manage to beat West Ham but it mattered little as Everton's victory put them into 17th.

Leicester's 2022/23 Premier League season

Leicester were famously Premier League champions in 2015/16 and enjoyed a number of top four pushes under Brendan Rodgers, but could never quite qualify for the Champions League a second time.

Instead, a successful squad was allowed to decay with few major improvements made and they were sucked into a relegation battle they ultimately couldn't fight against sufficiently.

James Maddison and Harvey Barnes managed ten-plus goal campaigns but neither Jamie Vardy, Kelechi Iheanacho or Patson Daka could do the business up front to keep the Foxes up.

Leeds' 2022/23 Premier League season

Leeds started the season with a three-game unbeaten streak in the league, including a 3-0 win over Chelsea which hinted at a brighter campaign than last time out.

However, barring consecutive wins over Liverpool and Bournemouth in October and November that's as good as it got for United. Wins over Suthampton, Wolves and Nottingham Forest did inspire some hope under Javi Gracia, but they would fail to win any of their last nine games to go down with a whimper.

Their lack of defensive resolve ultimately proved to be their undoing. Leeds conceded 78 goals in the Premier League this season, five more than Southampton who were second worst.
