Lewis Hamilton to produce 'diverse' F1 movie starring Brad Pitt, admits he may also play 'a small cameo'

MONTE CARLO, FRANCE: The next F1-inspired film starring Brad Pitt will highlight the sport's "diverse" future and make the sport look "how it is supposed to" in the future, according to Lewis Hamilton, 38, who also disclosed that he will appear relatively briefly, if at all, in the film. The seven-time champion Hamilton will be producing the film himself under the direction of Joseph Kosinski.

Brad Pitt is preparing to film some action for the movie in July at British Grand Prix. The movie also features Damson Idris and Kerry Condon, as per Sky News. When asked if he plans to feature in the movie, he said, "No, not really, I don't really have any desire to be in front of the camera, but there may be an element in it where maybe I'll slot in and play a small cameo, but at the moment that's not the plan."

'I'm more enjoying the part in the background'

'Mercedes' star Hamilton may or may not appear in the film, but he'll make sure it's diverse. "I'm more enjoying the part in the background, making sure that I'm really talking to Joe about who we're hiring, making sure that it's diverse, making sure that the sport looks how it's supposed to look in the future, in terms of being more accessible," he told the outlet.

He was able to spend a Saturday going through the script with director Kosinski, actor Brad Pitt, and producer Jerry Bruckheimer because of the recent cancellation of the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix due to flooding. "We have an amazing cast. It's such a privilege… because we weren't racing, we spent the whole day going through the script in London.

'I'm learning so much through the process'

The F1 paddock will probably be used to film more scenes at different races during the second half of the season as Pitt is scheduled to hit the track during the British Grand Prix weekend at Silverstone."Just to be able to sit there with Joe and Jerry, who are such legends, and then sit there and watch Brad work - I'm learning so much through the process and have even more of an appreciation of what it takes to create a movie" Hamilton shared with the outlet. "I'm sure that will continue to grow as I see this thing slowly grow and build into something special."

'I'll wait for my proper movie debut'

Hamilton said that he was content behind the camera and feels he should wait for a proper debut and not ruin it. "I'll wait for my proper movie debut, because I'm going to need to train and practise, because I don't want to suck at it." Due to scheduling issues, Hamilton lost out on a part in the 2022 release of 'Top Gun,' but he won't let that opportunity pass up again. "If 'Top Gun 3' ever happens, I'm going to be in it, and I will miss a race for it, just so you know. I'm not going to give up that chance next time."
