Lindsey Clancy bombshells: 5 things new affidavit reveals about mom who killed her three young children

DUXBURY, MASSACHUSETTS: New details have emerged in the case of Lindsay Clancy, who was indicted by a Plymouth Grand Jury in mid-September on three counts of murder and strangulation.

The charges stem from the tragic events that unfolded on January 24 when the 32-year-old mother allegedly strangled her three children, Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and 8-month-old Callan, with exercise bands at their family home in Duxbury, Massachusetts.

The disturbing incident took an even more sinister turn as investigators uncovered unsettling details about Clancy's state of mind leading up to the horror of her actions.

Lindsay Clancy's disturbing internet searches and journal entries

According to an unsealed affidavit obtained by the Daily Mail, Clancy had been researching methods of killing.

The affidavit reveals that investigators obtained a warrant for her electronic devices, where Clancy would journal about her mental health and her feelings about children, along with her disturbing internet searches.

The document, however, did not specify the exact search terms or phrases Clancy had used, leaving many questions unanswered about her mindset.

Lindsay Clancy tried to kill herself before hospitalization

In the aftermath of the incident, Clancy's own life was at stake. She attempted to take her own life, and as a result, she became paralyzed from the waist down.

According to the affidavit, Clancy hurt herself with a "large blood-covered kitchen knife" before jumping from the window of her home.

Currently, she remains in a hospital, where she even addressed the court from her hospital bed.

This case has brought to light the issue of postpartum psychosis, described by the National Institutes of Health as the severest form of mental illness in that category.

Lindsay Clancy was on cocktail of antidepressants

This case has also raised questions about the medications Clancy had been prescribed.

Her husband, Patrick Clancy, has voiced concerns that his wife had been prescribed an "over the top" cocktail of pills, including diazepam, amitriptyline, and trazodone, all antidepressants, which had been given to her within the last 16 days.

The authorities conducted a comprehensive investigation at the residence, examining various pieces of evidence, including home security camera footage, purchase receipts, and a CVS bag that held a child's laxative that Lindsay had requested Patrick to get.

Additionally, they carefully scrutinized the murder weapons, notably a knife, and various notebooks found within the premises.

The notebooks contained a detailed record of Lindsay's prescribed medications, which encompassed a list of drugs such as Zoloft, Valium, Trazodone, Ativan, Klonopin, Prozac, and Seroquel.

However, it was not immediately evident whether Lindsay had been prescribed all of these medications concurrently.

Lindsay Clancy turned into a 'zombie' due to medications

Clancy's lawyer, Kevin J Reddington, has alleged that these medications left her feeling like a "zombie," and he intends to use this as part of his defense against the murder charges.

"One of the major issues here is the horrific overmedication of drugs that caused homicidal ideation, suicidal ideation," Reddington stated in February.

"They [Lindsay and her husband Patrick] went to doctors repeatedly saying 'please help us.' This was turning her into a zombie...the medications that were prescribed were over the top, absolutely over the top," Reddington said.

"She had medical care and treatment on a regular basis. And her husband was very proactive in trying to protect her and help her with the doctors' medication she was prescribed. They went through hell — and they didn't come back," he added.

The tragic end of Lindsay Clancy's children

According to the affidavit, on that fateful night, Patrick Clancy was in the basement when police arrived to check on Lindsay and made the horrifying discovery.

He found two of his children with exercise bands around their necks, their faces "blue and purple," leading him to make the agonizing statement to authorities: "She killed the kids!"

The state's chief medical examiner later declared that the two older children had died of asphyxia, while little Callan had died from complications related to asphyxia.

The tragedy has had a profound impact on the Clancy family. Patrick Clancy, despite the unimaginable circumstances, has found the strength to forgive his wife.

He expressed this sentiment in a GoFundMe message to friends and strangers who raised $1 million for him.

"I want to ask all of you that you find it deep within yourselves to forgive Lindsay, as I have. The real Lindsay was generously loving and caring towards everyone. The very fibers of her soul are loving. All I wish for her now is that she can somehow find peace," he wrote.

Lindsay Clancy is scheduled to be arraigned in county court on Thursday, October 26, according to the Boston Herald.
