LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Internet's contentious personality, Ludwig Ahgren recently reacted after OpenAI hired ex-Twitch CEO Emmett Shear to run the company just days after Sam Altman was ousted by the board.

OpenAI is an American artificial intelligence research organization comprising its for-profit subsidiary OpenAI Global, LLC and its non-profit OpenAI, Inc incorporated in Delaware.

Why was Emmett Shear hired as OpenAI's CEO?

On November 17, 2023, Sam Altman was abruptly removed from his role as CEO of OpenAI. In a blog post, the company revealed that they were “no longer confident” in his ability to lead the company.

In the subsequent days, attempts were made to bring back the co-founder, but both proved unsuccessful.

As a result, Microsoft hired Altman to lead a new AI division. In response, OpenAI enlisted Emmett Shear, the former CEO of Twitch, with the platform's most prominent figure not hesitating to express their opinions.

Shear clarified his decision to assume the CEO position at OpenAI in a post on Twitter/X, stating that he felt a "duty to help."

“I took this job because I believe that OpenAI is one of the most important companies currently in existence. When the board shared the situation and asked me to take the role, I did not make the decision lightly. Ultimately, I felt that I had a duty to help if I could,” Shear said in his post.

Ludwig reacts after OpenAI hires Emmett Shear

On November 20, In a post on his X (previously known as Twitter) account, Ludwig made his thoughts and feelings about Emmett Shear joining OpenAI quite clear.

He said, “Emmett Shear might be the greatest interviewer of all time, How he went from losing millions at Twitch and turning users/creators against him into CEO of the most important AI company in the world is insane.”

In the last year, with the rise in popularity of streaming services like Kick and YouTube, an increasing number of Twitch-loyal streamers have gained the ability to voice their opinions about the platform as they now have alternative options to consider.

Ludwig departed Twitch for YouTube Gaming prior to Shear's exit from the Amazon-owned company in March 2023, a move driven by his desire to spend time with his then-newborn son.
