'Mayim Bialik's wit on full display': 'Jeopardy!' fans fume over host's 'substitute teacher level' interview skills

CULVER CITY, CALIFORNIA: ‘Jeopardy!’ fans are once again disappointed in the host Mayim Bialik after the recent episode. The 47-year-old game show host was slammed on Twitter and became the subject of memes following her failure at having an engaging interview with the new set of contestants.

Since Bialik joined the trivia competition as part of the hosting duo with Ken Jennings that 'Jeopardy!' recently settled on, this has been a regular occurrence. Fans have repeatedly tweeted about the problems they have with Bialik's hosting skills, comparing her to Jennings, the previous full-time host.

Mayim Bialik’s uninterested responses to ‘Jeopardy!’ contestants

The thing that put off ‘Jeopardy!’ fans this time was the Q&A segment between Bialik and the new contestants. Two new contestants alongside six-day champ Suresh Krishnan were introduced during the interview on the Wednesday, June 14 episode. Bialik seemed quite disinterested in Neilay Amin and Holly Hassel when they shared their interests and backgrounds.

Amin shared his fascination with looking at the stars and planets ever since he was a child. “When I was maybe eight or nine my mom woke me up at 2 am to watch one of the meteor showers,” the psychiatrist from Pennsylvania said.

Bialik’s one-worded response to his response was simply “Awesome” with a little exclamation. The same was the case with Hassel who ended Krishnan’s streak in this episode.

Hassel is an English professor from North Dakota State University in Fargo and talked about being in a rock band with her fellow educators. “It’s made up of other English professors, actually,” Hassel shared. She further revealed ‘Jeopardy!’s role in the band’s history saying, “One of our first original songs was inspired by Jeopardy! champ Emma Boettcher.”

On such a funny coincidence and interesting details about the contestant, Bialik replied, "That is super, super awesome, glad you are here."

'Not a fan. Will not watch'

Fans of the game show have been carefully nit-picking everything Bialik does on the show, most of them disapproving of her hosting style. In reference to the interview round, many fans thought that she didn’t know how to engage well with the contestants. One fan tweeted, “When does @KenJennings return to @jeopardy? Mayim Bialik's "substitute teacher" level of hosting is hard to watch. The viewers want Ken back! If the show needs to have 2 hosts because Ken refuses to be full time, why not hire Buzzy Cohen? He was a great guest host.” Another one pointed out a similar issue saying, “Awesome” “That is super super awesome” “That makes sense” Mayim’s wit was on full display today during the @Jeopardy interview section.”

This is not the first time fans have reacted to her interview rounds this way. One fan previously tweeted, “I'm not the biggest fan of Jeopardy interviews, but it's still off-putting when Mayim races through them without paying attention to the them.” Another tweet said, “I think that's my biggest gripe. She just seems robotic; nothing flows like it should. I used to actually like her, but her on the show ruined it!”

Other fans did not fail to make memes out of the whole situation. One of the tweets said, “Everytime Mayim says, "That's right" I hear Madonna, "That's right, that's right.” Another one came up with, “My Mayim impression (also a new drinking game): “That’s awesome!” + Laughter.”

Conclusively, Bialik is yet to make most of ‘Jeopardy!’s fans happy with her as a host similar to many, a fan tweeted, “Please get rid of Mayim. Not a fan. Will not watch.”
