It appears Infinity Ward is looking to turn the clock way back for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, remastering all of the iconic maps that were in the original MW2 (2009).

Although previous leaks had speculated that several of the OG offerings could be making their returns, this new rumor suggests that players should be expecting much more from the new title.

The leak was posted on Twitter by prominent Call of Duty leaker @TheGhostOfHope on Wednesday, mentioning that the information stems from a "trustworthy source."

"Infinity Ward are planning to release all/almost all Modern Warfare 2 (2009) maps together all at once some time during the post launch of Modern Warfare II (2022)," TheGhostOfHope tweeted. "Very likely this could be Year 2 content."

If this were leak were to hold true, it would certainly be a pretty nice surprise for CoD fans considering how beloved the original MW2 maps remain in the community to this day.

As mentioned earlier, the following four fan-favorite maps from the original 2009 MW2 are expected to not only return for the new core title, but also for the upcoming Warzone 2.0 map itself:

  • Highrise
  • Quarry
  • Terminal
  • Afghan

So far, Infinity Ward has officially unveiled two of its brand-new 6v6 multiplayer maps coming soon with MW2: Marina Bay Grand Prix and Farm 18.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is set to release worldwide on Oct. 28.
