Film fraternity mourns the loss of Sir Michael Gambon aka the beloved Albus Dumbledore
Veteran actor Sir Michael Gambon, who played Professor Albus Dumbledore in six of the eight 'Harry Potter' movies died on Wednesday, September 27. Both his fans and his co-stars are mourning his loss together. From lighting up wands to reminiscing about him, tributes have honored his cinematic legacy.
JK Rowling
The creator of the Harry Potter series, JK Rowling posted a heartfelt message at the demise of the actor who garnered the love and respect of all the millennials. Rowling reminisced, "The first time I ever laid eyes on him was in King Lear, in 1982, and if you'd told me then that brilliant actor would appear in anything I'd written, I'd have thought you were insane." Her post also said, "I absolutely loved working with him, not only on Potter but also The Casual Vacancy."
Rupert Grint
"So sad to hear about Michael. He brought so much warmth and mischief to every day on set. He captivated me as a kid and became a personal role model of mine for finding the fun and eccentricities in life. Sending all my love to his family, Rupert,” wrote Rupert Grint who played Ron Weasley in all the eight Harry Potter films and shared screen with Sir Michael Gambon in six instalments.

Bonnie Bright, who played Ginny Weasley in the Harry Potter films shared a snap of the Gambon from the franchise, and wrote on her Instagram, "I was forever in awe of Michael’s presence and performance. His deep mischievous voice between scenes would vibrate through the Great Hall. He was Dumbledore through and through - a constant, warm and guiding figure. Rest in peace Michael. Sending love to your family ❤️."
Emma Watson
Emma Watson took to her Instagram story feed to eulogize the legendary actor who obtained his knighthood from Queen Elizabeth II in 1998. Watson wrote, "Kind kind kind Michael Gambon. You never took it too seriously but somehow delivered the most serious moments with all the gravitas. Thank you for showing us what it looks like to wear greatness lightly. We will miss you."
James Phelps
"Very sorry to hear about the passing of Michael Gambon. He was, on and off the camera, a legend," wrote James Phelps in his tribute. Phelps is known for portraying Fred Weasley in the Harry Potter franchise. The actor also shared a memory of Sir Michael from the set of Harry Potter 6.

Jared Harris, the 'Mad Men' star and son of the first Dumbledore actor, Richard Harris, too shared a moving message for his father's successor. He wrote, "A brilliant actor. I saw him on stage several times, and he lives unforgettably in my memory. He took over Dumbledore from my father, which was fitting as he over took Brando as my father’s favourite actor."
Jeremy Clarkson
English journalist and 'Top Gear' host Jeremy Clarkson posted a "sad" tribute to the veteran actor. He wrote, "He was hugely amusing, and such a tremendous guest, we even named a corner after him," referring to the time when Gambon turned the last corner of his 'Top Gear' lap with his car careening on two wheels, not four.
