NFL Rumors: Former Patriots star adds fuel to the DeAndre Hopkins fire

Rumors are circulating about DeAndre Hopkins soon becoming a New England Patriot, and a former Patriots star is only adding to that fire.

The latest news on former Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins pertains to his recent visit to Foxborough to meet with the New England Patriots.

It's no secret how much respect Hopkins has for Bill Belichick, and he has told the coach that himself. At the same time, it is no secret that if New England were to sign Hopkins, he would instantly become the best pass-catcher on the team, given his resume.

So far, Hopkins has not signed a contract with the team, but that could change in the coming days. Former Patriot and Super Bowl LIII Champion and hero Jason McCourty recently spoke about Hopkins' visit to Foxborough on Good Morning Football and said that the former Pro Bowler left a positive impression on the team.

The New England Patriots have yet to sign DeAndre Hopkins, but all signs are pointing in a positive direction

Since being drafted in the first round by the Houston Texans back in 2013, Hopkins has been a problem for opposing defenses and defensive coordinators, recording over 1,000 yards receiving in six out of 10 seasons in the NFL. Hopkins has also been selected to the Pro Bowl five times.

However, injuries have hampered his career. Last season, Hopkins played in only nine games but managed to record over 700 yards receiving and three touchdowns. In contrast, the Patriots leading receiver in 2022 was Jakobi Meyers, now in Las Vegas. Meyers had 804 yards receiving and six touchdowns in 13 games.

Adding "Nuk" would give the Patriots a significant boost to the development of Mac Jones while Jones is still on a rookie contract. However, it is up to Belichick (de-facto GM) and the rest of the Patriots' front office, along with Hopkins and his representatives, to come to an agreement.
