Oceana Grills still going strong after legally fighting 2 lawsuits against Gordon Ramsay and 'Kitchen Nightmares'

NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA: Oceana Grill, a seafood restaurant, became the talk of the town in Gordon Ramsay's 'Kitchen Nightmares' Season 4. Despite the legal drama, the New Orleans-based restaurant managed to keep going.

Oceana Grill is still open but the owners of the restaurant have changed. The restaurant's social media reveals that it has improved vastly.

A lot of staff who were featured on the show left the restaurant shortly after the filming.

Oceana Grills made the headlines as it became one of the restaurants that filed two lawsuits against Gordon Ramsay and the show 'Kitchen Nightmares.'

The restaurant now bags 4.5 rating on Trip Advisor. According to reports, after the filming was over the restaurant allegedly offered its customers a free drink in exchange for a review.

Oceana Grills remains open all days of the week from 8 to 1. From the videos posted online on Its page, it seems that the restaurant is now doing pretty well.

Oceana Grills initially sued 'Kitchen Nightmares' to prevent the episode from airing

In 2011, Oceana Grills filed its first lawsuit against Gordon and 'Kitchen Nightmares' producers to prevent the episode from airing. The restaurant's legal counsel claimed that editing of the episode "misrepresented" it.

As reported by the Daily Mail, the show's producers and the restaurant's owner came to an agreement, reportedly offering a specific amount, which was said to be $10,000, to the owners each time they utilized footage from the episode.

Oceana Grill's owners presented a disclaimer saying that it did not represent the current condition of the restaurant in the episode.

Why did Oceana sue 'Kitchen Nightmares' second time?

The second lawsuit against Gordon's 'Kitchen Nightmares' came in 2018. According to a report by Today, 'Kitchen Nightmares' posted a clip on the Facebook page where Gordon was seen claiming, "no wonder this restaurant is failing..." in reference to Oceana Grills.

The now-deleted clip features Gordon Ramsay reportedly experiencing nausea and vomiting after encountering what was claimed to be a rotten shrimp from the restaurant.

Indeed, Oceana Grill and its parent restaurant group, Cajun Conti, filed a second lawsuit against Gordon Ramsay and the show, citing damage caused by the negative impact resulting from the post.

The lawsuit was filed to "prevent any defamatory" information from being used in the future.

Oceana Grills calls out 'Kitchen Nightmares' for 'over-dramatizing' and 'fabricating' the scenes

In the lawsuit, the restaurant's lawyers mentioned, "During the episode's filming, defendants went to great lengths to over-dramatize and even fabricate problems with the restaurant in order to increase ratings."

This is not the first time that 'Kitchen Nightmares' has been accused of creating a fake scene.

The footage shown in Oceana Grill's episode was claimed to portray a "false" narrative.

The lawsuit claimed, "The footage intentionally portrayed Oceana and its employees in a patently false and negative light, as it depicted the appealing restaurant as an unsuccessful, unsanitary and mismanaged restaurant."

'Kitchen Nightmares' Season 8 premieres on Monday, September 26 at 8 pm ET/PT on FOX.
