Patriots to honor the GOAT Tom Brady in home opener

The home opener for the New England Patriots will be a memorable contest as the franchise honors its greatest player and NFL GOAT, Tom Brady.

He's back, folks. Tom Brady is back. For a reunion and celebration. The Hall of Famer will be honored at the Patriots' home opener this season.

Patriots owner Robert Kraft confirmed the news on Good Morning Football that No. 12 would be returning to Foxborough for a ceremony fit for the greatest quarterback in the history of the league. According to reports, it will be on Sunday Night Football Week 2 against the Miami Dolphins.

It only seems right. After all, prior to Brady's arrival, the franchise wasn't exactly a big success. Despite two Super Bowl appearances, both losses, the Patriots weren't exactly a hotshot. Once Mo Lewis delivered the hit, everything changed. Sorry Jets, we had to bring that up.

Tom Brady returns to Foxborough to be honored for his great success as a member of the New England Patriots.

So what did Tom Brady do exactly to earn this honor? How about six Super Bowl championships, four Super Bowl MVPs, ensured that 28-3 would always be remembered, and set multiple NFL records along the way? That's quite an accomplishment. Brady also proved that "Deflategate" was nothing more than a joke.

But in case anyone forgot, Brady went down to Tampa Bay and won a Super Bowl for the Buccaneers while also coming back to Foxborough and beating the Patriots in an emotional Sunday Night Football game. In other words, the guy is really good and deserves all the accolades.

Though he is retired and will pursue other opportunities, it is fair to say there is no doubt that Tom Brady is the greatest Patriot. No debate.

Whether his jersey is retired on that day remains to be seen. Who of his former teammates will be in attendance? For now, New Englanders should feel good that the face of the franchise is coming home, to be honored and not as an opponent.
