PlayStation players can get their hands on an exclusive Operator in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

Revealed during last month's Call of Duty: Next showcase, PlayStation players who pre-order any digital edition of the game via the PlayStation Store will receive the Oni Operator Pack. The pack will be made available to eligible players at launch.

The Oni Operator Pack includes the Hiro “Oni” Watanabe Operator plus a high-end weapon blueprint. These items will be usable in Multiplayer, Special Ops, and Warzone 2.0. According to Activision writer Daniel Noel, in a recent PlayStation blog post, a concept that stood out early on was to create a samurai-inspired Operator: "A name that came to the fore amongst the Infinity Ward team was “Oni”, meaning “Demon”, and that helped kick start a unique narrative around the Operator."

Infinity Ward reportedly worked towards a "plausible aesthetic that felt contemporary but with the aura of a dignified warrior tied to tradition."

The launch version of Oni is available to PlayStation digital pre-order players, but a different iteration of Oni will be available in Call of Duty Warzone 2.0 Combat Packs for PlayStation Plus members starting in Season 01 of Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0.
