Premier League predictions: Gameweek 12

It's the final Premier League weekend before the November international break, so savour the English top flight while you can.

There are five games apiece on Saturday and Sunday before international football returns, with the final serving of the weekend a tantalising clash between Chelsea and Manchester City in Gameweek 12's highlight fixture.

Here are 90min's Premier League predictions for Gameweek 12.

Premier League predictions: Gameweek 12

Gameweek 12 kicks off with Tottenham's trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday lunchtime. The Lilywhites had a night to forget against Chelsea when they were reduced to nine men and beaten 4-1 by former boss Mauricio Pochettino, failing to reclaim their spot at the top of the table. Wolves are fresh from a surprise defeat away at Sheffield United last time out, Gary O'Neil left to fume at some more questionable officiating.

Mikel Arteta also spent last weekend bemoaning VAR and the standard of refereeing in England, his Arsenal side controversially losing to Newcastle United. The Gunners will hope for a more quiet afternoon this Saturday when they face 19th-placed Burnley, with the Clarets losing their last five matches in all competitions.

Things should be tighter at Selhurst Park on the other side of London when Crystal Palace host Everton. The Eagles beat Burnley themselves last weekend but now face the in-form Toffees, with Sean Dyche's side unbeaten in three matches.

The atmosphere at Old Trafford this weekend promises to be, well, interesting. Manchester United lost a bonkers encounter with Copenhagen midweek, falling to a dramatic 4-3 defeat that leaves their Champions League qualification hopes in tatters. Erik ten Hag's men face a visit from newly-promoted Luton Town following the Hatters' surprise draw with Liverpool, with the Red Devils likely to make life needlessly difficult for themselves again this Saturday.

The final offering of Saturday's action sees Bournemouth host Newcastle at the Vitality Stadium. The Cherries conceded six at champions Man City last weekend and will expect to face a Newcastle side looking to bounce back from their disappointing 2-0 defeat to Borussia Dortmund midweek.

There are four 14:00 (GMT) kick-offs this Sunday, one of which sees Aston Villa face Fulham. Unai Emery's side lost their six-game unbeaten streak against Nottingham Forest last weekend but will feel confident of getting back to winning ways in the Premier League when they welcome the 15th-placed Cottagers to the Midlands.

Brighton have been on a surprisingly underwhelming run of form, failing to win any of their last five Premier League games. That streak should come to an end this weekend when they host bottom-placed Sheffield United. The Blades won their first league game of the season against Wolves but still look far from convincing, needing a late and contentious penalty to secure three points last time out.

Liverpool's disheartening draw against Luton last Sunday may have rocked the Reds ever so slightly, but they actually ended up rising to third in the Premier League table regardless of their slip-up at Kenilworth Road. They welcome a resurgent Brentford to Anfield, the Bees fresh from three successive wins.

Much like Brighton, West Ham United have been in worryingly poor form of late, losing their last three Premier League games. Defeats to Aston Villa, Everton and Brentford mean David Moyes is under pressure to get a positive result against Nottingham Forest this weekend. Steve Cooper's side ended their six-game winless run with victory over Villa last Sunday, but may find a trip to the London Stadium too daunting.

The highlight of Gameweek 12 comes in Sunday's late kick-off as Man City travel to Chelsea in an intriguing clash. Mauricio Pochettino's side somehow managed to look a little uneasy during their 4-1 victory over Spurs and will likely struggle with the visit of the defending Premier League and European champions.
