Premier League team of the week: Gameweek 3

The third week of Premier League action is in the books, and it was one that will live long in the memory.

Late goals were flying in up and down the country as players took the chance to make names for themselves and seal points which, even at this early stage, look set to be incredibly valuable further down the line.

Here's who made the cut for 90min's team of the week.

Premier League team of the week: Gameweek 3

GK: Alphonse Areola (West Ham)

West Ham United pulled off the perfect smash-and-grab against Brighton & Hove Albion, winning 3-1 despite shipping 78% possession and 25 shots on goal.

Unsurprisingly, Alphonse Areola was incredibly busy throughout the game, making nine huge saves to prevent one of the Premier League's most potent attacks from running riot. A heroic performance from the stopper.

RB: Matty Cash (Aston Villa)

Given the freedom to push further forward against Burnley, Matty Cash put on a clinic in attacking proficiency.

Cash bagged two goals inside 20 minutes to give Aston Villa an insurmountable lead en-route to a 3-1 victory.

CB: Joachim Andersen (Crystal Palace)

A 76th-minute equaliser to earn Crystal Palace a 1-1 draw with Brentford will take the headlines, but Joachim Andersen's work before and after that strike was simply sensational.

Dominant defensively and dangerous in attack, Andersen's all-round ability was really on show here as he won all four of his ground duels and went up the pitch to create five chances. He's a centre-back, don't forget.

CB: Micky van de Ven (Tottenham)

Tottenham Hotspur teammate Cristian Romero could have easily earned a spot here, but it's Micky van de Ven who sneaks into our team of the week this time.

Both with the ball and without it, Van de Ven breezed around the pitch against Bournemouth, working seamlessly alongside Romero to secure a second consecutive clean sheet.

LB: Destiny Udogie (Tottenham)

Ange-ball is working wonders for Destiny Udogie, who had Tottenham fans drooling once again with a dazzling display against Bournemouth.

Udogie chimed in with the assist for Dejan Kulusevski's strike before limping off with an injury which fans will hope is nothing serious.

DM: Rodri (Man City)

Few players have the same record when it comes to clutch moments as Manchester City superstar Rodri, who was back at it against with a late winner in his side's 2-1 battle with Sheffield United.

Just when it looked like an 85th-minute equaliser from Jayden Bogle was going to derail City's perfect start to the season, Rodri popped up with two minutes to go to ensure Pep Guardiola's side remain the only team with a 100% record in the Premier League.

DM: Joao Palhinha (Fulham)

Another defensive midfielder striking late, Joao Palhinha buried with 87 minutes gone to snatch a 2-2 draw for Fulham against Premier League title hopefuls Arsenal.

It was the cherry on top of a performance which yielded utter dominance in the midfield battle as Palhinha threw himself at everything Arsenal had to offer.

RM: Raheem Sterling (Chelsea)

Few Chelsea players have benefited from Mauricio Pochettino's arrival quite like Raheem Sterling, who has been back to his dominant best in the past two weeks after a small tactical tweak.

Premier League newcomers Luton Town had no chance as Sterling netted two goals and set up Nicolas Jackson's strike with a deflected cross.

AM: Bruno Fernandes (Man Utd)

It looked like Manchester United were in for a week to forget as they found themselves two goals down after just four minutes against Nottingham Forest.

Putting the team on his back, captain Bruno Fernandes would end the game with a goal and an assist, playing a pivotal role in his club's unlikely comeback.

LM: Darwin Nunez (Liverpool)

If you're only going to play 13 minutes, you better make sure they're the best 13 minutes of your career. Whether Darwin Nunez reached those heights is up for debate, but there's no denying he absolutely stole the show in Liverpool's comeback victory over Newcastle United.

The ultimate agent of chaos netted two eerily similar goals to save Liverpool and secure three points against a major top four rival. A good day's work.

ST: Michail Antonio (West Ham)

Playing in this West Ham system, against a formation like Brighton's, takes a special kind of player. Step forward, Michail Antonio.

Leading the line to absolute perfection, Antonio embraced the ugly battle and undoubtedly came out on top.
