Rangers vs. White Sox prediction and odds for Wednesday, June 21 (Kopech due for a rough outing)

Yesterday, the Chicago White Sox got some help from a bizarre replay review to come back and beat the Texas Rangers 7-6 in Chicago. Elvis Andrus was originally called out at the plate on a tag by Jonah Heim, but the play was overturned for reasons still unclear and the game swung the other direction. Now, the Rangers will hope to salvage the series with a series victory today in the rubber match.

Martin Perez will take the hill for the 45-28 Rangers. Perez is 6-3 with a 4.54 ERA in 14 starts this season. His counterpart will be Michael Kopech who is 3-5 with a 3.92 ERA in his 14 starts. Let's get into the odds for this series finale tonight.

Rangers vs. White Sox odds, run line and total

Rangers vs. White Sox prediction and pick

So far in June Michael Kopech has been excellent for Chicago, at least in terms of lowering his ERA. He's only given up three runs in his three starts this month, but last time out was nearly a disaster. In 4.1 innings he surrendered one run on six hits with six walks to just four strikeouts. His strikeout rate is 73rd percentile, but with a walk rate in the bottom 15% of the league his expected ERA is 5.07. Kopech's FIP is 5.31 and I suspect he will have a very tough time against the Rangers today. He's due for regression and with the best lineup in the league on the other side it's the perfect recipe.

The White Sox will need to knock around Martin Perez to keep up, but they are 17th in OPS against lefties this season with just 18 home runs in 568 at-bats. Luis Robert Jr. has a 1.278 OPS and five homers against left-handed pitching, so he may carry the offense himself, but I don't think he'll have enough help tonight.

Despite Kopech's good numbers the White Sox are only 6-8 in his starts and lost each of the last two even though he allowed just one total run. Chicago has the fifth worst bullpen ERA this season, so I'll take the Rangers on the run line.
