Now 'Collateral' friends have advised him to exercise moderation, suggesting that he dial back his intensity. However, such restraint, the source noted does not align with Cruise's nature.

The insider further claimed, "It can be a little overwhelming — claustrophobic, almost," for the women he pursues. This became evident after Cruise and Shakira spent time together at the May 7 event, where Cruise confidently assumed their connection would lead to a romantic relationship. "He was telling everyone they had incredible chemistry and taking it as a slam dunk they’d be dating in no time," shared the source.
'It stung all the more because he considers Lewis a buddy'
Sadly for Cruise, his dreams were dashed when Shakira turned down his attempts and was later seen with Formula One racer Lewis Hamilton. The insider concluded, "It was a huge dent to Tom’s ego. It stung all the more because he considers Lewis a buddy." One more insider told the publication that the feelings were not mutual, revealing that Shakira had been "begging him to stop flirting with her."
'She was just being friendly'
Despite Cruise's interpretation of their interaction, the insider clarified that Shakira was merely being friendly and harbored no romantic interest. "She doesn't want to embarrass or upset him, but there's no attraction or romance on her part — she was just being friendly." Cruise, however, felt otherwise, the report claimed, and even went so far as to send her flowers following their intimate hangout.
Speculation of a possible intimate relationship between Cruise and Shakira arose after they were seen being the VIP area, where they continued to converse. Shakira's lack of interest, and her subsequent association with Lewis Hamilton, rapidly put an end to any romantic ambitions Cruise had.

He was really nice and she enjoyed his company, but she isn’t focused on dating him or anybody else at the moment. She has a lot on her plate and is focused on her kids and career for now.” The source further told the media outlet, “Shakira has seen the online rumors that Tom has been courting her — and how fans are chiming in with their opinions — but she thinks it’s hilarious because it’s just not true,” the source explained before adding “She had a fun time when they chatted, but that’s as far as things have gone.”
