'Stop the nonsense': 'Morning Joe' mocked over Willie Geist's report on Donald Trump's post-debate poll

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: On Monday, August 28, Willie Geist took over ‘Morning Joe’ as he announced the latest poll where Donald Trump’s support dropped by 6 points after he skipped the first GOP debate in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

This poll was derived from Emerson College, in a survey with 460 Republican voters. As Geist brings this news to the viewers, the comment section on MSNBC’s YouTube channel relentlessly mocks the report as people ask ‘Morning Joe’ to “drop the nonsense.”

Willie Geist reports on Donald Trump’s recent poll numbers

“A new national Emerson college survey released just within the last hour shows Donald Trump’s support drops 6 points from a poll earlier this month,” reported Willie Geist as he continued, “The former president still overwhelmingly leads his opponents though.”

Geist also mentioned that Ron DeSantis and Vivek Ramaswamy were in the second and third positions, however, still falling several points behind Trump. What Geist did not mention in the news report on ‘Morning Joe’ but viewers did, was that this poll by Emerson College was based on responses by 460 people.

‘Morning Joe’ mocked over post and pre-GOP debate polls

Viewers have responded on MSNBC’s YouTube channel in regard to the latest poll as one person wrote, “These media organizations should be required to link to the data behind the polling ( Not just MSNBC, but Fox, CNN, all of them). I saw the 6% drop and was like, "WOW", that is a big drop. Then I went and looked at Emerson's August 2023 National Polling data and the Rep/Dem/Indep affiliation had shifted by 6. So, they aren't comparing the same baseline. In other words, this poll is just a bunch of hot air.”

People were focused on the number of participants in this poll as one person commented, “National poll? They only surveyed 460 people ? Stop the nonsense,” and another wrote, “It’s cute how they put “Among 460 Republicans” in the bottom corner really small and the same color to try to hide it?”

The mockery continued as the internet claimed that ‘Morning Joe’ reported what their audience “wants to hear” as one person wrote, “This is what it looks like when a media outlet just reports what their audience wants to hear.”

Of course, there was also the obvious mention of Trump from his supporters as one comment read, “In another latest news, Trump's support gains 12 points after his mug shot was released,” and another commented, “Fun fact, President Trump has raised millions off the mugshot”
