NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: 'The View's executive producer Brian Teta welcomed Sunny Hostin on ‘The View: Behind the Table,’ where the latter announced that she wasn’t "as liberal" as people took her to be and went on to assert her stance on being a "pro-life catholic" in the episode.
After the podcast, a quote from the nearly 22-minute episode made it to ‘The View’s social media, and the Internet wasn't impressed with Hostin. Some even went as far as to request ABC to do away with her contract.
Sunny Hostin talks about following the rule of law
Brian Teta branded Sunny Hostin the "legal eagle" on 'The View: Behind the Table' podcast as they started off by talking about relationships.
Teta pointed out, "It’s interesting, because your persona in general, I would say, most people feel is on the liberal side of things, but your relationship persona is a little bit more on the conservative side."
Hostin was quick to respond and said, "I’m actually not as liberal as people think I am, it’s actually always very interesting to me, that people are like – you’re so liberal," adding, "Um, I’m sorry, I’m a pro-life catholic that’s been married for 25 years."
'The View's executive producer labeled her a "conundrum" after the statement. Soon Hostin mentioned that as a lawyer, she follows "the rule of law" and the rules of her church.
She once again emphasized, "I’m not all that liberal," and added, "I’m probably much more in the middle."
After the podcast episode aired, ‘The View’s Instagram account shared a quote focussed on Hostin saying that she isn’t "as liberal" and is a "pro-life Catholic” who has been married 25 years.
Sunny Hostin faces severe backlash from the Internet
The Internet was quick to rush to the comment section of the post as they raged against ‘The View’ host, Sunny Hostin.
One person wrote, "What does being married for 25 years have to do with being liberal or not," while another said, "It's funny that she thinks being married for 25 years has anything to do with being a conservative or liberal."
People have also asked ‘The View’ to "replace her" as one person wrote, "This is exactly her problem. She has no self-awareness. Who in the world would think she's liberal???? The view would do themselves a favor and replace her. She's become unwatchable."
"Sunny, please rest your vocal cords. ABC try not to renew her contract," expressed one 'The View' fan, with another stating, "Thank you for reminding me why I stopped watching this show."
"I have never liked her," said one, with another adding, "Neither of those have anything to do with politics."
