Bandai Namco have announced that Tekken 8 is in development, revealing the first trailer during yesterday's State of Play presentation.
According to Chief Producer of the Tekken Project Katsuhiro Harada, the trailer was "taken directly from a certain part in the current work-in-progress Tekken 8’s story mode, played on PlayStation 5." All models, backgrounds, and effects are the same as the ones used in-game rather than pre-rendered footage.
The trailer focuses largely on the level of detail features in-game that "sets itself apart from the current Tekken 7."
Tekken 8, as a sequel to Tekken 7's story, will focus on the father and son showdown between Kazuya Mishima and Jin Kazama.
With the game still being very much in development, Bandai Namco have yet to offer a release date for the upcoming entry.
"The entire development team is working hard to make this title worth the wait so thank you so much for your support."
