'That boy and his mom deserve your love': Chris Pratt faces backlash for leaving ex-wife Anna Faris out of heartfelt Mother's Day post

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Chris Pratt, known for his roles in 'Jurassic World' series, recently faced backlash from fans after he left out his ex-wife and mother of his son, Anna Faris, in his gushing Mother's Day post on Sunday, May 14, 2023. The 43-year-old actor, who was also slammed in 2021 for a post about his "healthy daughter", shared a sweet snapshot featuring his wife Katherine Schwarzenegger, her mother Maria Shriver, and his own mother Kathy.

The 'Guardians of the Galaxy' star praised Katherine, expressing gratitude for her role as a partner and the blessings she has brought to his life. He also acknowledged his mother and mother-in-law Maria as well as the other mothers in his life but failed to mention his ex-wife Anna. "Happy Mother’s Day to all of the mothers out there. Especially grateful today for Katherine. You’re a wonderful partner. You’ve provided me such a blessed life," Pratt wrote in the caption.

'To all of the other moms in my life!'

He added, "Our two daughters are so lucky to have you and you’re the best step mama to Jack. And to my mom, Kathy, you raised us with such love and light and laughter— so grateful for you today and always. And to Maria, the best Mama G, I’m lucky to have you as a mother-in-law. And to all of the other moms in my life, I’m so grateful for all you do- thank you so much. Hope you feel celebrated today."

However, the omission of Anna, whom he was married to from 2009 to 2018 and has a son named Jack, 10, led to an outpouring of anger on social media. Fans criticized Pratt for neglecting to mention the mother of his first child and started name-calling him. However, some fans came to Pratt's defense, noting that Anna had not posted a Father's Day tribute to him either. They argued that Pratt's message of "Happy Mother's Day to ALL of the mothers out there" encompassed his ex-wife as well.

'I would NEVER POST happy Father’s Day to my ex!'

Internet users had a mixed reaction to Pratt's Mother's Day post. One user commented on Instagram, "My ex husband sent me a very nice message wishing me a happy Mother’s Day. Marriage didn’t work out, but at least he knows I’m a good mom to our child. It’s just appreciation."

Another added, "You have such a big platform… yet you continuously, and blatantly, ignore your previous life. That boy and his mom deserve your love and acknowledgement as much and your current family does. Do better."

A third added, "All of those people making comments about Chris's ex wife, she never made a father's day post about him after they broke up either. Double standards and making him a villain over nothing. If it's your ex partner you shouldn't have to include them in anything unless you see fit. I'd do the same."

Another claimed, "As someone who is divorced with children and then remarried I can say I would NEVER POST happy Father’s Day to my ex. Nor would he do the same for me. It’s just how the Apple falls from the tree. Yes I’m grateful he had a hand in giving me my amazing kids, but I don’t need to post about it. And I don’t want him posting me on his social media lol ya’all are making way to big of deal out of this. Go pee in your own Cheerios and stay out of everyone else’s bowl of cereal. Just because you feel a certain way doesn’t mean everyone else needs to share those same feelings. Man what a whacked out world we would live in if we all shared the same feelings."

"You all are clearly not children of divorce & it shows. I don’t wish it on anyone, but it’s NOT normal for parents to make social media posts about their exes, even if they share children. I would never expect either of my parents to honor/celebrate anyone except their current spouses, no matter how cordial they may be. ?‍♀️?‍♀️," read a comment.
