'That's the funniest thing': Matt Rife addresses speculations of undergoing plastic surgery, says he 'hit puberty too late'

COLUMBUS, OHIO: Comedian Matt Rife has set his record straight regarding the swirling scuttlebutt that he went under the knife. The 28-year-old comedian was asked by Mario Lopez for Access Hollywood amid speculation that Rife has had plastic surgery.

When Lopez asked the star about the biggest lie he has come across concerning himself, the former 'Wild N’ on Tour' comic responded, "That I've had plastic surgery." He continued, "That's the funniest thing in the entire world to me. Because I hit puberty too late, I didn't look like this until I was like 23."

Fans thought Matt Rife might have had 'jaw line surgery'

Fans speculated that Rife may have had "cheek fillers" or "jaw line surgery" to achieve his chiselled look. Rife, who is best known for his self-produced comedy specials OnlyFans, then quipped, "Sorry if you need surgery to look like that."

Matt Rife's controversial joke on domestic violence

This comes after Rife courted controversy when he used a joke about domestic violence in his new Netflix special 'Natural Selection', The Sun reports. "If we start the show with domestic violence. The rest of the show should be pretty smooth sailing after that," Rife reasoned to the audience after delivering the opening joke.

The setup was that he and a friend were eating at a diner in “ratchet” Baltimore, Maryland, while being sat by a hostess with a black eye.

"A full black eye. It wasn't like, 'What happened?' It was pretty obvious what happened,” he told the audience. “But we couldn't get over, like, this is the face of the company? This is who you have greeting people?" he continued. "And my boy, who I was with, was like, 'Yeah, I feel bad for her, man, I feel like they should put her in the kitchen or something where nobody has to see her face,’” Rife recounted.

Matt Rife was labeled sexist and misogynist by his ex-fans

Even though his content was already enough to have some fans questioning his direction, it was the punchline that has earned Rife the labels of sexist and misogynist by ex-fans. "And I was like, 'Yeah, but I feel like if she could cook, she wouldn't have that black eye,’" dropped Rife.

He later shared a story on his Instagram page addressed to those who slammed the comedian for the joke. “If you’ve ever been offended by a joke I’ve told — here’s a link to my official apology," he wrote. The link in his Instagram story led to a medical website that sells helmets for people with special needs.
