We may or may not be getting the standard new iPad announcement this month, but we are getting some great deals on the Apple tablets that are already on the market.

As of Oct. 25, the iPad Air with 64GB of storage is back down to Prime Day pricing of $499.99 at Amazon and Best Buy. All in all, that's $99.01 (or a 16% discount) off the tablet — and its lowest price ever.

The price drop comes less than a week before Apple's "Scary Fast" event on Monday, Oct. 30. While usually an October Apple event would mean new iPad announcements, it looks like the event will be focused on Macs. It's unclear whether or not this iPad price drop is correlated to any incoming announcements; this price is one we've seen the Air hit a few times this year.

If it's a priority for you to have the latest tech, you might want to hold out a while longer, in case Apple does announce new tablets by the end of the year. For everyone else, the Air is still an incredibly solid tablet. It's powered by the M1 chip (and is the only non-Pro iPad that is), it basically looks like an iPad Pro with more colorways, and it's compatible with the Apple Pencil 2, the best tablet pencil Apple has released.

Mashable's Stan Schroeder called the Air "elegant, powerful, and versatile enough for both casual users and professionals" in his review of the tablet, noting that "unless you need lots of storage...you don't need the Pro." Considering the Pro starts at a few hundred bucks more, you may very well decide this Air deal is one worth jumping on.
