'The View' host Alyssa Farah Griffin wants to 'own her seat at the table' after fight with Sunny Hostin

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: 'The View' host Alyssa Farah Griffin has made her needs known to BBC journalist Suzanne Kianpour. This comes a week after Alyssa's explosive fight on air with co-host Sunny Hostin. Alyssa has made it clear that it is important for her to be able to protect Barbara Walters' legacy.

The fight between the two occurred when Sunny would not let Alyssa speak and it eventually led to a commercial break. The argument was caused by a difference in political opinions between the two hosts and it then escalated to an explosive back and forth.

'Own your seat at the table'

Alyssa mentioned in an interview with Suzanne that she wants to own her seat at the table of 'The View', per The Sun. Suzanne posted a picture with Alyssa on Instagram with the caption, “HELMET TO HEELS MOTIVATION MONDAY featuring @alyssafarah : “own your seat at the table.”” Suzanne explained further by captioning, “We’re starting our weeks with the mantras and jams that power our favorite inspirational women.” She also focused on Alyssa's aspirations to protect Barbara Walters' legacy by opening more doors for other women and using her platform to advocate for her beliefs.

Suzanne said, “Barbara Walters is obviously an inspiration to both of us - and I feel we as women who had doors opened for us either by women in tv before us, or in foreign policy, govenrment or national defense have a duty to use the platforms to advocate for what we believe in.” Suzanne also stated in the caption, “In the ‘Helmet to Heels’ community, we love fashion and news… and highlighting feminine power.”

Alyssa Farah Griffin is protective of Barbara Walters' legacy

The fight between the two hosts on 'The View' caused Alyssa to talk over Sunny and say, "This is not what this show is about. This is Barbara Walters' legacy. Let a woman speak." While the crowd was appreciative of Alyssa, Sunny kept talking over her and did not allow her to make her case.

However, Sunny's perspective on the whole fight was that Alyssa went against her own previous claims about Mike Pence, who she worked with in the past. At the same time, Sunny was the one who was successful in keeping her cool on numerous occasions as tensions increased from Alyssa's end. It was because of Whoopi Goldberg that a commercial break was taken to calm everyone. Before opting for a break Whoopi said, "We're gonna have this break, come back, and make this work. We'll be right back."
