LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Ron DeSantis, Donald Trump, Mike Pence, and Will Hurd are among the few Republicans in the GOP race that is often discussed on ‘The View.’ DeSantis made the headlines after his statements about slavery in support of Florida’s controversial new curriculum. While ‘The View’ co-hosts had briefly discussed the issue already, they went into much more detail during Tuesday’s segment.
This time, Whoopi Goldberg wholeheartedly participated in this discussion about DeSantis as she slammed the Florida governor. Goldberg received applause from the audience as well as fans online for the same.
‘The lies that you have created’
Goldberg started the segment in a light-hearted way as she announced the topic, “Last night, Fox News anchor Bret Baier pressed Florida governor Ron DeSantis over his criticism of Black Republicans, who complained about Florida’s decision to teach that slaves benefitted from slavery…yeah, here comes the clip, watch the clip.” ‘The View’ then played the Fox News clip between Baier and DeSantis, headlined “rewriting history,” where DeSantis claimed that he needed to push back after the left created “phony narratives.” As soon as the clip ends, Goldberg, who would normally throw the discussion to her co-hosts, was the first one to speak. Goldberg said, “You know, there’s too many of us to pull that B.S., sir. There’s too many of us who actually…you know, those are the lies that you have created.”
Goldberg received loud applause from the audience and she continued, “There are special people from time to time that we talk about. You know, who have done amazing things, came out of slavery, and were able to break the barrier.” Goldberg also addressed DeSantis directly as she faced the camera, “There are enough black people in your state, who can teach you what happened, because their grandparents, and the great grandparents, they spread all these stories for us, so that we would know, cause y’all weren’t writing them in the books. So, let's not fool around with this.” Goldberg then gives the stage to the co-hosts to discuss DeSantis, and as the segment drew to its end, she spoke again, “Listen, we built the white house, we’ve done…we’ve been here…I’m tired of explaining it. And just so we’re clear, we’re not going anywhere, we’ve been here, Mr DeSantis. Many of us have been here for generations, can you say the same?”
‘Thanks for what you do’
Fans all over the internet have applauded Goldberg’s candor as she directly addressed DeSantis. ‘The View’ posted a clip of this segment on YouTube and fans flooded the comment section with applause and praise for Goldberg. One wrote, “Don't be tired of explaining it, Whoopi. Thanks for what you do,” while another said, “Finally! Whoopi put it out there. DeSantis is 3rd generation American here to the US. His family immigrated here from Italy. Italians were not treated nicely when they arrived in the US.” People from all over the US have left comments for Goldberg as one wrote, “Whoopi on fire and I agree. Go get him and call out his BS. I’m tired of it later on, hit home, even though I’m a white liberal from NYC.” Fans have also directly quoted their favorite parts from Goldberg’s rage against DeSantis as one commented, “Cuz ya'll weren't writin it in the book's – Whoopi.” Everyone has showered Goldberg with love as they agreed with her, exclaiming, “That’s right Whoopi !!!!!” One fan summed up what all viewers felt while watching Goldberg, “Love you Whoopi.”
