'The View' host Whoopi Goldberg ends 'Hot Topics' segment as she disagrees with Sunny Hostin's idea of a 'first date'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Men revealing that they go to therapy on their dating apps quickly became a part of the ‘Hot Topics’ segment on ‘The View.’ Although all co-hosts, with the exception of Whoopi Goldberg, are currently married, they all had strong opinions on what should be revealed on dating apps, as well as first dates.

Sunny Hostin, who has been married to Emanuel Hostin since 1998, shocked her co-hosts with her idea of a first date, and how much one should reveal on said date. The co-hosts, especially Goldberg have a strong reaction to Hostin’s thought process, who stands strong on talking about mental health on the first date.

‘It seems sexy’

Goldberg read out the topic to her co-hosts, “We are dealing with some hard-hitting stuff here today. A writer for the Huffington Post who has joined dating apps after a breakup was surprised that many of the men now write in their profiles that they are in therapy. She finds this strange.” Joy Behar quickly interrupts Goldberg, “Why?” Goldberg responds, “I don’t know, my question to you is…is this strange?” Haines was the first to chime in as she clarifies that the writer said so because the men were apparently lying about going to therapy, which is why it was an issue. Behar also talks about how women are more attracted to men who are open about their emotions and says it’s “very intriguing.”

This is when Hostin finally jumped into the conversation, agreeing with Behar, “It seems sexy.” Hostin then continues, “The only thing I think this is, I agree with you…you don’t put it in the lead…like I have heart disease like you don’t want to put that in the lead.” Despite Goldberg and Behar trying to interrupt, Hostin puts her point across, “When you first date, I think you should talk about mental health struggles that you may be having.”

Goldberg responds to Hostin

Goldberg interrupted her once again, bewildered at Hostin, “On a first date?” Hostin nodded along, “Yes, I want to know what I’m getting into.” Haines and Goldberg are both shocked that Hostin would want to get that deep on a first date. Goldberg gives her slice of opinion on first dates, “Don’t tell me anything but your name!” the audience as well as her co-hosts, apart from Hostin, laughed at Goldberg’s statement. Hostin on the other hand insisted that they hear her out, “You got to hear me out, but as you’re seeing that there’s a vibe and you’re falling for someone.” After receiving backlash from her co-hosts, Hostin clarifies that she isn’t talking about therapy, but about serious stuff, and also admits that she put all her stuff out there on her first date with her husband. Goldberg decides to end the segment, “Oh my god my head’s exploding, we have to go! We have to go! Bail…bail…we’ll be back.”
