'The Voice' Season 24: Niall Horan takes a dig at John Legend for failing to repeat his 2019 triumph

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Niall Horan and John Legend were quite playful throughout the premiere of 'The Voice' Season 24. However, things crossed the line when the 'One Direction' member took a jab at Legend for not winning the show since Season 16, which debuted in February 2019.

After hearing Alexa Wildish perform in 'The Voice' Season 24, Legend praised her, saying, "The quality of your voice was angelic, mesmerizing," adding, "I won 'The Voice' in my first season (referring to Season 16 when he joined the NBC show) with an artist who sounded a lot like that kind of tone."

Horan immediately replied, "Hasn't won it since." The audience laughed and Reba McEntire remarked, "Oww, tough crowd."

How many times has Niall Horan won 'The Voice'?

'The Voice' Season 23 was Blake Shelton's finale season. And, on the occasion of his being the last season, Shelton's "honorary son" Horan took home his first victory.

Notably, Season 23 was Horan's first time as a coach on the singing reality show.

Indeed, he won 'The Voice' only once in Season 23 and bagged the prize with the help of 19-year-old singer Gina Miles.

After Shelton's exit, Horan has been carrying his words and has been seen using them in Season 24.

Has John Legend ever won 'The Voice'?

John Legend won 'The Voice' once the same as that of Niall Horan.

He bagged the winning title in Season 16 with the help of the singer Maelyn Jarmon during his first tryst as a coach on the show.

Previously, Legend appeared as the Battle Advisor for Team Adam in Season 10.

'The Voice' Season 24: Niall Horan steals away Alexa Wildish

Alexa Wildish was seen singing Fleetwood Mac's song 'Songbird' on the audition round of 'The Voice' Season 24 and the coach who was most awakened by her performance was none other than Niall Horan.

After listening to Alexa sing, he said, "I've sat here and I've waited for you."

The 'One Direction' singer added, "Christine McVie and Stevie Nicks are half the reason why I picked up a guitar and started writing songs. The fact that you chose that song, I'm just getting goosebumps even thinking about it."

Even though he did say that there were some pitch issues with the performance, Horan was ready to overlook all the odds and asked Alexa to join his team.

Alexa, who had all four options in front of her, chose to go with Team Niall.

'The Voice' Season 24 airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 pm ET on NBC.
