The best MLS games to watch for Saturday June 10 include some fun matchups involving some of the hottest teams in the league.
The fourth place New England Revolution will take on a last-place, Messi-less, Inter Miami team for one of the last times as it was made official, Lionel Messi will now be playing for Miami.
This game should be nothing short of electric as you should expect to see a rejuvenated Inter Miami team after the Messi news.
MLS games to watch today: New England Revolution vs. Inter Miami at 7:30 p.m. ET
Even though Inter Miami has won three out of the last five versus New England they are clearly rooted to the bottom of the league table currently and this Revolution team is currently embattled with three other teams for first place.
New England has an xG (expected goals) of 1.43 while their actual is 1.50 which means they are beating expectations. New England ranks 13th defensively in the league allowing an average 1.25 gpg and they have had six clean sheets so far this season. Needless to say New England has the pieces to continue to win but it is yet to be seen how Inter Miami will respond to the Messi trade news.
Like I said above Inter Miami is firmly rooted to the bottom of the league table. Siting in15th place in the Eastern Conference, they have managed only five wins with 11 losses. Interestingly enough, they are the only MLS team in the league yet to draw a match. Their 16th-ranked defense gives up an average 1.31 goals per game, which spells trouble when facing this hungry Revolution team.
Whether Inter Miami CF becomes a new team while expecting the arrival of one of the worlds greatest soccer player or not I expect this match to be extremely competitive. New England needs to keep winning to remain in the hunt for first place and Inter is looking to improve each week. This is a must watch match this week.
MLS games to watch today: Houston Dynamo vs. LAFC at 8:30 p.m. ET
The red-hot, first place LAFC travel to PNC Stadium in Houston on Saturday night to face the Dynamo.
LAFC will look to bounce back from a scoreless mid-week draw versus Atlanta.
The Houston Dynamo were also held scoreless in their most recent game, a 3-0 loss to St. Louis City FC. The Dynamo face a tough test as after getting beat bad on the road the last two games and now have to take on the monster that is this LA team.
Houston has yet to win on the road this year. They lost 3-0 to St. Louis City FC last Saturday and were crushed 6-2 to the Vancouver Whitecaps the week before. Giving up so many goals to teams that are considered lesser teams than LAFC does not bode well for the Dynamo.
They now return home though were they have been playing lights out. Going 5-1-1 at home, with five clean sheets, it's yet to be seen if Houston will be able to keep up numbers like that against such a superior team in LA.
LAFC has struggled in their travels so far this year. With a 2-1-3 record, they were held scoreless twice and have only scored more than 1.5 goals twice. They are taking on a Jekyl and Hyde team in Houston, who plays like a completely different team at home. I need to see LAFC bounce back before thinking they win on the road again, especially after a mid-week 0-0 draw. This is a hard game to call which means it will be a great game to watch.
MLS games to watch today: San Jose Earthquakes vs Philadelphia Union at 8:30 p.m. ET
The San Jose Earthquakes host the Philadelphia Union in a late-night matchup, that should be a fun one.
The Earthquakes are another tale of two teams. The stink on the road and are fire at home. The Union were similar to that build but have recently turned things around winners of their last four games overall and their last three games on the road.
San Jose never says die, at least in front of their home fans. That has been evident in their home performances this year.
San Jose has 5-0-2 record at home, meaning they have yet to lose there. They have beat all sorts of great teams this year including taking down first-place LAFC and holding Sporting KC scoreless. This San Jose team gives it all they have at home and they'll need to if they expect to at the same level as this Union team.
After losing the 2022 MLS Championship the Philadelphia Union entered this season with high hopes. Following a dreadful start to the season, the Union have finally righted the ship winning their last four games and their last three road games. They currently sit in third place in the Eastern Confernce and are one of the teams embattled for first against the New England Revolution as I mentioned above. They have a +12 goal difference and are scoring an average of 1.43 goals per game on the road.
Both of these teams are hungry and are playing at a high level. With the current home and road trends for these two teams, I think we see goals, goals, goals in this late night MLS match up.
