LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ‘Today’ host Al Roker who recently became a grandfather for the first time has spoken about his experience. The meteorologist spilled the beans on how things went for the first week since the birth of Sky Clara Laga.
Sky Clara Laga is the newborn daughter of Courtney Laga Roker, who is the eldest daughter of Al Roker from his previous marriage. Courtney recently became a mother and gave birth to Al Roker's first grandchild, a baby girl named Sky Clara Laga. Al Roker expressed his joy and love for his new granddaughter on social media, and Courtney shared updates and photos of her daughter on her own Instagram account. During ‘Today’ segment on July 10, Roker shared his experience of becoming a granddad and how it was magical for the first week.
‘It’s magical, it really is’
On Monday, ‘Today’ host Al Roker was joined by co-hosts, Craig Melvin, Sheinelle Jones, Hoda Kotb, and Dylan Dreyer for Hoda’s Morning Boost segment. Hoda began the segment by introducing Sky Clara Laga adding, “It’s got a sunny sky in his life, his first grandchild, a perfect baby girl”. Roker couldn’t stop smiling over the happy news and upon Hoda’s asking how it has been since it’s the one thing he has never experienced before. In response, Roker exclaims with joy, “It’s magical, it really is. Everybody tells you that it’s going to be this thing and you don’t know, it’s like when they tell you about when you’re having your first child”. He continued, “And then to hold this girl knowing that almost pretty 35 years ago I held her mom, you know, here she is, 9 pounds, 15 ounces, 19 inches long, and she’s just perfect." Roker also revealed that Courtney had a C-section while Wes, father of Sky, the gravity of being a dad hit him.
Al Roker’s surprised with a cute gift
Meanwhile, Al Roker's co-host surprised him with a cute little baby toy basket. There was a tiny T-shirt which says, ‘Pop Pop’ and another T-shirt saying, ‘Al’s perfect Sky’. Roker held the T-shirts and smiled broadly at the camera adding, ‘Love you’.
