NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Earlier this week, 'Today' host Craig Melvin went missing from the morning show just days after his return. While his co-hosts didn't confer on the reason behind his absence, however, in a recent Instagram post, he dropped a hint to his fans about why he missed the show.
The ‘Today’ meteorologist was again spotted missing from his usual seat on the NBC show just days after he returned to work from a family vacation. Melvin was on a long hiatus as he was enjoying his time off from the show with his family on vacation. Although he didn’t reveal his whereabouts, his wife, Lindsay Czarniak posted pics from their getaway on her Instagram.
Where was Craig Melvin?
After being absent from Thursday and Friday episodes of 'Today', Craig Melvin, the 44-year-old host, took to his Instagram Stories to provide a hint about his whereabouts. He shared photos from the NBCU Academy event at the Birmingham–Jefferson Convention Complex in Alabama. In the pictures, Melvin is seen engaging with the audience alongside NBC News president, Rebecca Blumenstein, and executive vice president, Libby Leist. During Melvin and fellow NBC star Sheinelle Jones' absence, Jacob Soboroff, 40, filled in for the duo on Thursday and Friday's shows. On Friday, Soboroff joined Dylan Dreyer and Al Roker to discuss various topics while Melvin and Jones were away for the day.
Craig Melvin’s family vacation
Melvin’s recent absence came shortly after his return to the morning program on Wednesday. Previously, he had taken some time off in July for a family vacation. The exact reason for his recent brief disappearance from the show was not disclosed by the co-hosts or the network. Last month, Melvin shared with viewers what he had been up to during his absence from the show. In a conversation with Al Roker and Vicky Nguyen, he revealed that he went on a vacation with his family. He said, “It’s good to be back," as Roker welcomed him back on the show. He continued, “We went down last week, me, my younger brother, and my older brothers and all their kids went on vacation, beach, pool, beach, pool." Melvin also mentioned playing golf with his dad and enjoying a family tennis outing organized by his wife, Lindsay Czarniak. The family had a great time at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, although they had to endure the scorching 95-degree weather. Lindsay had shared videos of their time, including watching the beautiful sunset and sunrise on the beach.
