NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: ‘Today’ journalist Savannah Guthrie was missing from her usual seat on the NBC show and was replaced by beloved co-anchor Craig Melvin.
Melvin filled in for Guthrie’s absence at the desk with Hoda Kotb as he finally returned after being absent on Monday and Tuesday. None of ‘Today’ hosts divulged the reason behind Guthrie’s absence and viewers were left wondering where she was.
Guthrie also took some time off from ‘Today’ last week as she traveled to Los Angeles to attend a Taylor Swift concert with her nine-year-old daughter, Vale. This was mentioned by her co-hosts on-air.
Where is ‘Today’ host Savannah Guthrie?
On the ‘Today’ episode which broadcasted on Wednesday, August 16, host Savannah Guthrie was replaced by co-host Craig Melvin who took over her seat alongside Hoda Kotb.
The hosts were later joined by Sheinelle Jones who then continued the segment. Melvin also returned to the show on Wednesday after spending time on a family vacation as revealed by his wife, Lindsay Czarniak.
Melvin’s absence was filled in by Jones on both days and, as for Guthrie, Melvin is back and filling in for her.
While Guthrie fulfilled her morning show duty on Monday and Tuesday, she was mysteriously missing from her seat with no explanation on Wednesday.
Also, it is not known when she will be back and who will be filling in her for the upcoming ‘Today’ episodes. As ‘Today’ posted a clip from the day's broadcast on Twitter, Guthrie was clearly missing from her seat as her co-hosts effortlessly took over her duties.

Despite Savannah Guthrie’s daughter Vale's birthday earlier this week, she remained dedicated to her work, making her presence felt.
However, she made sure to commemorate the special day on Instagram. Guthrie shared heartwarming pictures of her alongside her nine-year-old daughter, both radiating joy.
Guthrie sported a white sundress paired with an olive bucket hat, dark sunglasses, a long charm necklace, and subtle accessories. Vale's bright smile shone as she rocked a white T-shirt, her long curls framing her face.
The caption spoke volumes as Guthrie penned, "This is nine, and she is divine. And so is being her mommy."
The photo series captured cherished several special moments, including Guthrie making blueberry pancakes with her children, a birthday ensemble with a headband, and spirited cheers as the birthday girl showed off her backflips outdoors.
