LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Tom Cruise's ex Katie Holmes once admitted to having her first major real-life crush on the dashing Hollywood actor Joshua Jackson, describing the experience as "incredible and indescribable." Jackson, now 44, who starred as Pacey Witter in the Warner Brothers television drama 'Dawson's Creek', stated in 2012 that his co-star Holmes, also 44 and separated from Cruise, 60, gave him an unexpected call.
"Like any old friend, it was like, 'Oh, hi how are ya? What’s going on?'; 'I had a kid,'" he stated regarding his phone conversation with Suri Cruise's single mother. "It was very nice, actually." Even though the 'Fringe' actor and Diane Kruger had a long romance that lasted from 2006 to their breakup in 2016, he and Holmes were a very serious pair back then.
'I had my first love'
Holmes stole fans' hearts with her debut television series 'Dawson's Creek', in which she played one of the main characters, Joey Potter. The performance was not just the first significant move of her career, but also the beginning of her highly publicized love life.
The WB star, who was 19 at the time, discussed her love woes — and successes — in a September 1998 Rolling Stone cover story titled "Katie Holmes: The Sweetheart of Dawson's Creek." "I had really good luck this past year and I had a really wonderful, amazing experience," the actress admitted. When asked if the "amazing experience" involved her co-star Jackson, she answered in the affirmative. According to Holmes, who initially gained fame as a teenage star in Ang Lee's 1997 film 'The Ice Storm', "I'm just going to say that I met somebody last year, I fell in love, I had my first love, and it was something so incredible and indescribable."
'Dawson-and-Joey type thing'
Speaking of Jackson, Holmes added, "I feel so fortunate because he’s now one of my best friends. It’s weird, it’s almost like a Dawson-and-Joey type thing now." She went on to say, “He’s been in the business so long, and he’s really helped me. I respect him as a friend and as a professional." According to reports, the two dated for a year before splitting up in 1999. However, even after their breakup, they remained close friends.
