PHOENIX, ARIZONA: A recent study conducted by the Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG) has shed light on the most risky intersections in Phoenix, Arizona.

According to ABC15, utilizing data sourced from the Arizona Department of Transportation spanning from 2018 to 2022, the analysis has spotlighted intersections in the West Valley, notably in Phoenix and Glendale, as the areas exhibiting the highest crash risks.

Highlighting of Top 10 crash-prone crossroads

The 10 intersections identified as well-known spots notorious for their crash rates include:

1. 67th Avenue and McDowell Road

2. 51st Avenue and Camelback Road

3. 19th Avenue and Peoria Avenue

4. 67th Avenue and Thomas Road

5. 67th Avenue and Indian School Road

6. 83rd Avenue and Indian School Road

7. Cave Creek Road and Sweetwater Avenue

8. 51st Avenue and Thomas Road

9. 27th Avenue and Camelback Road

10. 99th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road

These rankings are based on multiple parameters, such as the total number of reported crashes, frequency, severity, and the nature of the crashes.

Serious incident at 67th Ave and McDowell Road

In December 2022, one of these notorious intersections, 67th Avenue and McDowell Road, witnessed a serious crash that led to the shutdown of the busy crossroads early in the morning.

The incident involved two vehicles that incurred substantial damage, with one car careening off the road near the intersection.

Phoenix police confirmed that both drivers, a man and a woman, received treatment at the hospital, assuring that their conditions were expected to improve.

The collision was determined to have occurred when one driver rear-ended the other vehicle. Investigations revealed that impairment was a factor contributing to the crash.
