In Trek to Yomi, there are four total endings that players can earn depending on which decision they make before the boss fight of the last chapter.
As such, for those who successfully timed their attacks and guards and survived the prior six-chapter onslaught of enemies, you will essentially get to choose the ending of the game. Whatever end you choose, you will still have to defeat the same boss, but the cutscene will be different. Here's a breakdown of all of the endings in Trek to Yomi.
During the course of the game, players will have to make a decision â aka choose a path â at different three points, each coming with three options to choose from.
The first two decisions you make in the story ultimately have no effect on the ending of the game. As discussed earlier, only the decision at the end of the sixth chapter decides the end.
Before the boss fight, thereâll be a cutscene in which NIGI-TAMA will offer you some gifts. prompting you to select your path/ending:
- Choose Love: Triggers the trigger the Path of Love ending. Hiroki succeeds against Kagerou but chooses not to kill him. From there, he returns to Yomi to reunite with Aiko.
- Choose Duty: Triggers the Path of Duty ending. Hiroki succeeds against Kagerou and chooses to kill him. From there, he helps his people rebuild before teaching a new child the ways of a samurai.
- Reject Gifts: Triggers the Path of Fury ending. Hiroki brutally executes Kagerou before bringing his people over to fight back against other settlements and bring them to ruin, essentially becoming the very person he swore to destroy.
Be sure to keep in mind that there is no option to re-choose the ending. For those who don't want to replay the game three times, simply make a save file on the cloud or on a USB stick in the sixth chapter before making the decision. When you complete one end, download the backup file and overwrite the active save. By doing this, you'll be back in the right spot to choose a different ending.
For the secret ending, however, players must avoid getting hit and defeat the boss "Shogun Kagerou" at the end of the third chapter.
Being that this boss fight is seemingly designed for players to lose, ending with a cutscene after Hiroki takes just a couple of hits, it's recommended to do the manual close save trick mentioned earlier as a backup plan in order to be able to replay it quickly.
You can immediately load the last checkpoint as soon as you take the first hit from Kagerou to avoid having to use a backup save. After the second, or at most, the third hit, however, the video sequence will trigger, which no longer allows you repeat the boss fight without using a backup save.
